Yes. It's his theme song. it doesn't play anywhere in during the events of the game, but it is officially labled as king's theme. Running hell is Curly's theme, and Toroko's theme is Toroko's theme.

You know what I love? When the songsd that make up a video game's soundtrack are all heavy remixes of a main theme. Cave Story is one crowning example. Kinda a miracle, since all the songs are just different notes smashed together. Daisuke Amiya just selected the ones that sounded good and actually fit the moment.

I think those types of reoccurring melodies are called leit-motifs. Mother 3 (the sequel to Earthbound) also plays around a lot with familiar themes, and I can’t tell you how many variations of the Love Theme are present (there’s a lot).

getting this song on the Cave Story DSI port was one of the few times a game has ever gotten my heart racing. i failed getting it like 4 times previously, because hell is not a good place for speed running, and i was certain i was going to fail again. i guess i can add one more thing to the list of reasons my cave story is amazing.

A lot of my friends enjoy lyrical artists, the storues told in their words give powerful messages that they resonate with and talk about...but I perfer electronic, instrumental music far more. The reason is that instead of relating to a story I react to the memories I associate with the song. Oneshot songs do this a lot. The loneliness I felt during On Little Cat Feet, the FOMO I felt when I found out the main menu music had more than 1 layer after listening to it for longer than 20 seconds after replaying the game on Switch years after my first PC run. Hell the same can be said for a lot of Mareaux's music when my first year of college was stressing me out. But this one is special, for starters I learned about it in Simpleflip's stream. Only really listening to the first 30 seconds before I had to hear it without a stream in the background. So immmediatly the nostalgia of enjoying a streamer floods into my mind. But within moments my heart sunk, 0:40 is always a tipping point for me because the first time I heard it was the moment I realized this was also reffered to as "King's Theme" and almost every emotion I had playing cave story rushed back into me at once. This song had such a powerful emotional impact on me that I doubt and lyrical story could give me. Because all it does is remind me of the incredinle experience playing Cave Story for the first time truly was.

I really want people to know more about this game, since i was 7 i liked hearing this game's soundtrack. Hearing it again in 2022 feels pretty nostalgic, 18 years really slip away, doesn't it? I actually would like to see a PS5 remastered nor added version. And if that doesn't happen, would be very surprising to see a FNF mod about this game, would be very boring but surprising.

This song plays on the title screen when you beat hell under 4 minutes, at least on the freeware version. King's sprite replaces Quote's. It's safe to assume White is King's theme if Toroko's version of the title screen plays "Toroko's Theme"

@TranceCore3 If you listen closely, in most games you can hear that the songs have a lot of reaccurring note patterns. This is very apparrent with the very old Sonic games. Like, in the Emerald Hill 2 Player theme, you can actually hear the iconic "da da da da dum, da" from the SMB theme's intro. Whether or not it's intentional in most of those games or in Cave Story is the most interesting part. It my have something to do with the composer's taste or state of mind.

Whenever you complete one of the challenges (except for Wind Fortress and Machine Gun challenge I think) or after you beat Blood Stained Sanctuary in 3:00-4:00 minutes as the main theme, while Quote is also replaced by King in the menu In case you have a 4:00-5:00 mark, Toroko's Theme will play as the main theme I recommend not surpassing those marks though, 2:00-3:00/5:00-6:00 don't give much (Safety/Running hell and Sue/Curly, not much of a reward as both of them are seen a few times in the game and the songs can be listened without speedrunning the hardest level of the game)

I love how everyone's trying to get the secret ending on CS+, the version that didn't feature it because the guy that fixed it up didn't know Pixel put it in so there was no way of getting it because it didn't exist. Go try it on the ORIGINAL version of CS and see if you can get it. There's a lot of differences between CS+ and the original.

Uh.... Cave Story's soundtrack isn't comprised of "heavily" remixed version of the main theme. Saying something like that would probably offend Pixel, since all of the music make it very apparent that they're all different ( in terms of compositions). The only game I can think of that has a sound track like the one you described, is super mario world.
