I'm not sure what to make of it. The weight save is of course really nice. In a way it is nice that you get to see more of the rear of the bike but because the big bit of the exhaust that show under the bike, the Arrow just seems too small to me. It seems like it should have either the size exhaust it has stock or just a tiny underbelly thing sticking out like we see on a few new bikes now. Anyway, i was happy to hear that you plan on doing another wrap job. That was the first video of yours i ever saw and it was a fun one to watch. I love your humor.
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. That CAT box is sadly a necessary evil that would be much better left on the garage shelf! I considered the double Arrow can, but of course it was double the price and double the weight so I opted for seeing as much of the beautiful rear wheel as possible. Maybe I'll black the silencer box so that it doesn't stick out so much!! The wrap is actually happening today, so hopefully might be some Insta photos by tomorrow!
@The77Game3 жыл бұрын
@@AndyManCam Blackening the box will make the Arrow look more like it belongs but i actually saw a video with another can that looks more like it always belonged on the bike. It was the SC Project S1-GP and it's color is much closer to the rest of the exhaust system and because it's fatter it just looks more like an extension of the big box. Looking forward to the wrap. I'm curious if you'll notice any additional vibration with the new can. The reduction in mass is good but I've noticed on at least one bike in the past that the loss in mass also resulting in a loss in vibration damping. As always, good video! Heal quickly!
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
I did actually notice a slight increase with the Mivv Mk3 can that I had last year. A Boosterplug has helped a tiny bit, but also fitting smaller crash bars and torquing the engine mounts correctly helped a bit too. I think the vibration is mainly caused by the fuelling in the midrange, rather than the pipe itself. Obviously the shorter, less resistant can just exacerbates this slightly lean fuelling condition. I reckon something like the RapidBike Evo would likely sort that out. Sadly they're very expensive and not entirely road legal!

I always have the lo cut switched on, auto level control off, WAV format and the recording level at about 50-60. I still sadly haven't found the best position for getting a great sound yet though. @AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
I hope not. The Boosterplug is helping a little bit, but also it's possible that the longer engine bars were actually channeling vibrations to the rear from the front. I need a lot more testing to really be able to back that up though! At the very least I'm hoping that the almost double cost of the Arrow over the Mivv has some developmental grounding!

Looks and sounds special. How will you get on with the noice polizei 🤔😜
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
Thanks TB! The can is fully homologated and road legal so shouldn't be any problem at all with the Lärmpolizei. ALso it's really not much louder (if at all) that the stock can. Most of the silencing goes on in the bix before the end can.
@phil_buckley3 жыл бұрын
Even though the original one looks great in my opinion I think that Arrow really suits this colouring, I'm curious if it doesn't anything to the throttle response, on my old CB1000R it was very noticeable with an after market can.
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Phil. Yeah, I could have happily stayed with the stock and never felt that it was ugly enough to ruin the bike. So far throttle response seems good, though I've only ridden to the shops in town!

@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
You’re spot on Dave. The Boosterplug has softened the vibes a tiny bit, but it’s also possible that either the whole thing was in my head, or the larger crash bars were connecting the front and rear engine mounts and making it worse. More Testing needed.

👍 The exhaust looks and sounds the business Will the bike need remapping or a power commander ?
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
Thanks TtD. It shouldn't no. There's so much silencing and back pressure going on in the main silencer box, that this pipe will make very little difference to the fuelling really.
@NachoManRandySandwich2 жыл бұрын
I may be in the minority but I kind of liked the look of the original exhaust. The new looks good to as well I'm curious about something. I assume that the bike was designed with weight balancing the part's. Do you notice any difference in the balance, does it tend to lean more now to the left side due to the lighter exhaust?
@AndyManCam2 жыл бұрын
Each to their own mate! You’re allowed to think so. TBH i think its one of the least offensive stock pipes out there in my opinion. I wouldn’t be overly sad if I’d stayed with it. I haven’t noticed any huge imbalance problems.
@NachoManRandySandwich2 жыл бұрын
If I owned this bike I think that the stock performance would probably be more than enough for me. I haven't ridden in year's so I'd probably crap myself if I had anything more powerful 😂. I know I'd have to retune the engine probably to see any increase in performance. If I was going to put on a louder exhaust it would purely be for safety. The stock exhaust at least in the videos I've seen seems a bit on the quiet side. I can see the benefit of an aftermarket exhaust because of oncoming traffic hearing you coming especially on the twisties. I really enjoy your videos, I found your channel while trying to find info on the the CB1000R Black Edition. That is my dream bike. I love the design of it, it kind of reminds me a little bit of the Yamaha VMax. Another bike I would have liked to have owned

Hi Andy, the can is a vast visual improvement ! Does it have a removable baffle? I know you guys have to stay on the right side of the German noise police :-) Feel free to not answer this next question: What took yourself (and if you know) Thelikablerider to Germany to live ? (I'm only interested as my Mum is Austrian and came over to Blighty donkeys years ago and I'm always intrigued by such moves) Keep up the brilliant vids !!
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't look very closely! Removing the baffle is such a non-option over here, that it doesn't really feature for me! But I'm pretty sure it is removable. I might make an update video with some more sound samples once I'm back out on the road. For me the move to germany was my German wife.

Andy, you do a lot of fiddling and upgrades but have you adjusted your suspension to you, when you got the bike? (also: ergonomics) I feel like this is an underrated and underpresented topic and I'd love to see your process. I think it would be useful to a lot of people, because I feel like 90% of riders ride a pogo stick.
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
I have messed about with the settings a tiny bit. Bit more preload all round and some tweaking of the damping settings. It seems about as good as it can be for the gear that I've got and the tyres are wearing pretty evenly. But I think the real fix is going to be some suspension upgrades. The rear shock needs to be changed completely and I think I need heavier springs at the front too. Maybe this season, we'll have to wait and see.

Very good Jim! I really like them. I wouldn't have any problem getting them again. They've been fantastic in the wet (just check out the Northernmost point in germany vid, in the rain) and also at about 25 degrees in the dry they were super sticky. Plus after about 4000 miles, they still look like they've barely started to wear.

When you change the stock exhaust do you have to have the bike re-mapped as Honda have a value system in the stock exhaust?
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
Nope! There’s no valve system in this bike, so it works without adjustment. I will say that it seemed the Mivv can i tried before caused more vibrations than this Arrow one. But only slightly.

Wish you had gone for the Austin Racing but then again, it won’t make much of a difference since you’ve left that monstrosity underneath. The real sound difference is made when you commit to a full system. That would really save some weight and boost sound. Maybe one day, when your ears can tolerate it all ;) . Joking apart, hoping you’re healing well. Resist the urge to get out on the bike before you are given the go ahead from the doctors. Time does pass.
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
They don't do an Austin racing for my bike! Otherwise I'd have seriuosly considered it! ALthough the AR are a fair bit more expensive too. This Arrow cost me just over 300€, so already the most expensive can I've ever bought myself!! A full system would be fabulous. Arrow even have downpipes that work with this can. But that will have to wait until I live somewhere slightly less intolerant than Germany! Healing is going well. Annoyingly all is mostly good, but they actually cut my ear almost completely off, so it's still not quite flexible enough to squeeze into a lid yet! But sooon!

Damn your Video qualitiy ist getting amazingly good! Recently i bought my Fz1 because of your Videos and i Love it! Only annoying thing is The vibrating handelbar as soon i press the front brake at a Stop..? Weird
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate! Thought I'd start putting a little more effort in! We'll see if that continues when I can ride again! That is weird with the braking though. Any warping or scoring on your discs? Might be worth checking that the bushings between the outer and inner parts of the discs are free. You can thread a bolt through them, pinch it on and then rotate the bolt with a spanner. The bushings should spin with the bolt. If they're stuck, then the disc won't be floating any more. That is of course assuming that you have floating discs!

Cheers Ioan! As long as the can is homologated for your bike, and it has the E number stamped or engraved somewhere on the pipe, you should have no trouble. I've never had to show the paperwork to the TÜV or the police, but they do always want to see that number.
