Great bike building. Come out to US to race it. NW Wa. State. I saw the race videos. Your good at cutting through traffic. Cadwell looks like a hard track and it has blind and double blind apexes. Throttle control and timing before and through the turn with steady Throttle. I learned much from your video. Cheers Al.
@SuggyRacing

Thanks for the comment, yeah cadwell is a fun but demanding track. It's pretty narrow too in parts making it challenging to pass. It's brilliant for the cb500's. I really like the track but a lot don't. It's even more tricky in the wet 💦. Thanks for watching the videos 😁👍

Suggy, your CB500 is a beauty. I'd love to see a breakdown of costs and where you got all the parts from. I bought a scruffy one in the autumn. Doing track days this year and might do a couple of races next near.
@SuggyRacing
@SuggyRacing 2 жыл бұрын
Hey thank you. To be honest I don't actually know how much it cost. I just tried to buy bits over time so it wasn't as bad. All my parts were from the people in my description. There's two lads that make all the parts that are custom, and then SF parts is the shop I bought all the seals and things like that from. I've put links in my description. How are you finding the bike? Good fun aren't they!

Hi. I got them from lads who make them on the cb500 racing group... facebook.com/groups/216972608977753/?ref=share It's Grant Whitaker and Josh Leaning who make them. Both styles work well, I've used them both 👍

Great video series. 👍 Making me think about buying one to use on track days to learn about racing. Can you talk about performance and costs. How much does it weigh in race trim ? How much power and torque ? I know a stock brand new mint CB500 had 57hp and 35 lbs 20 years ago. With the race pipe and tunning has it got more than 60 hp & 40 lbs ? How much does a track bike cost to build ?
@SuggyRacing
@SuggyRacing 8 ай бұрын
Hi. Cheers glad you liked the videos. Yeah they are fun bikes to ride. It's the 'cheapest' you'll get for racing unless you go into mini bikes or 125 endurance. In terms of power they have a maximum of 52hp. Most will be around 50-52. I haven't got an exact power figure on mine, I ran the engine in on the Dyno, but didn't do power runs. I will be doing though. For the racing we do you can't have anymore than 52 hp max, so mine should be around that figure after a rebuild. I'm not sure on weight how much lighter it is, but it's definitely lighter than a standard bike. I bought another to do up, and you can really feel the weight difference when you move it about. To build it's gonna cost a lot more than buying a ready built one. I went all out with mine. You can buy a race ready one from anything from £1500-£3000. There's some that have been thrown together, and some that are really well made. I went a bit over the top with mine 🤣

WHARe did you get the info for the mods like the tank tap ect I never thought about that ( as I kick myself for overlooking something. Simple )
@SuggyRacing
@SuggyRacing 2 жыл бұрын
Hey it's just one that some of the other riders told me about. These taps are prone to leaking so it's good to do. It's also worth putting the quick release fuel line on too. It means it's less likely to leak and flood the carbs. You can get the parts from SF Parts link in my description if you wanted to do the mod. 👍

Cool bike, i am also following you since you started with the cb story 👍. One question, how much power does it put on the dyno? Greetings from Germany
@SuggyRacing
@SuggyRacing 2 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for the comment. Glad you've watched the videos too 👍 I'm not sure what it does on the Dyno yet. We only ran the engine in, we didn't do a power run. I would imagine it will be about 50-52hp as we aren't allowed to make any performance gains, it has to be totally standard engine inside. All I can do is set it up to make it run smoothly. I will take it to a dyno eventually and see what it produces. 🙂

hey, question about eliminating the fuel vacuum hose, did you purchase the fuel tap repair kit from sf parts ?
@SuggyRacing
@SuggyRacing Жыл бұрын
Hi. I have done before, but I do it differently now. I found I still had issues with it leaking by switching the vacum part around. For some reason it just wouldn't seal on my tap. So now, I completely blank it off and remove all the insides. But, it requires drilling some of the inside out. Bit of a faff, but it works. Might do a video of it some time. Most the race lads just do the mod you are on about, and it's worked for them

@@SuggyRacing thanks bud, question, where did you get your dash instruments from temp gauge and gear shift indicator? also with regards noise testing I assume the lextek end can passes? how do you manage on track/race days with no rev counter, don't you have to rev the bike to about 5000 rpm so the officials can get a reading, just wondering how you go about this with no rev counter, cheers

Where did you get the vent and tap from for your aux fuel can ?

It's all from eBay. You need a 1/4 size thread for the connections and a 1/4 ball tap for the on/off switch. Search for 'taper thread hose' on eBay and they come up. 👍
