I didn't know that you could drag keyframes around like that. Animation suddenly got a lot easier for me! You have my eternal gratitude for explaining things clearly, and showing us a really good work-flow - "get it down and adjust it later".

Thanks for this great series, this is everything you need to start creating animation, and excellent character model to start, the vast majority use very advanced characters instead of starting with something simple like this nice robot. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!. A tip for the poses, when you create the cycles either walking or running, to create the same pose without having to move the bones to be inverted, you can copy that pose Ctrl + C and paste in flipped with shift + Ctrl + V. these options are found in the top menu "Pose". greetings

And failing that (if say, you don't want both halves of the walk cycle to be EXACTLY the same) you could use the annotation tool to mark where the feet are in each pose. Pre 2.8 there was also onion skinning for skeletons, and I'm still disappointed that that was removed in favour of motion paths.
@astro_18593 жыл бұрын
@@Fafhrd42 There used to be onion skinning ?? , like inbuilt. no addon required right?? I can't believe why would they remove it
@Fafhrd423 жыл бұрын
@@astro_1859 Yeah. Looks like it broke in 2.8, and they decided that since most animators use rigs that are set up to only show the control bones they decided it wasn't worth getting it working again (developer.blender.org/T60481). Supposedly there are plans for a full mesh onion skinning system, but I can't find any tasks for it in the blender task tracker, so they might have just decided that one add-on was good enough.

I found it easier that if there's something that got mixed up, start from scratch and try again. It's easier the find your errors that way and second time through you'll probably do a lot better. I actually redid this whole lesson from making the droid to this video a few times.

great content, thank you, kinda hard to digest, had to take some breaks, but i feel a lot more confortable now to approach some rigs and feel like i can finally know what i am doing, i am interested in learning all i can about the python API in parallel so that it feels more natural to automate when i can and really get to know the size of each project through some coding along the blender work

Ima newbie, curious, how did you learn all this, Bailey, and how long have you been doing Blender?
@CBaileyFilm3 жыл бұрын
I started learning back in 2010 with Maya. Then I swapped to Cinema 4D for a few years and finally I swapped to blender in 2013. I've never looked back :-) I learned it all on KZbin.

FOOT-SLIDE! Why not use the Graph-Editor, slide the vertices in the 'Y' axis move it (down?) to adjust the foot position? Wish I could find a really great clip on how to kill footSlide, reminds me of that song 'Bare Footin'.

Foot slide! Definitely on the list for the next tutorial. I’ve been getting comments and emails all week! Ha! Stay tuned!
