Freddy, Ash from Evil Dead and Tallman from Phantasm are impossible to recast as they are not the same as literature characters like Jud Crandall, Pennywise, Dracula, Frankenstein, Frankenstein monster, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde or any literature character that were established in print before film and it's ok to recast literature characters. Where Freddy, Ash and Tallman are original cinematic film horror characters created for the big screen and their DNA is with Angus Scrimm, Robert Englund and Bruce Campbell and no one else can replace those 3. I mean it's ok to recast Jason, Leatherface and Michael because they don't talk, they wear masks and are a physical presence than a performance.

Its crazy how scared people were of Freddy. My dad told me stories how on the night of the first movie premier, people were having heart attacks. Now a days, people are so used to seeing stuff like this that its not scary enough anymore. Freddy will always be a cult classic though. I can't wait for another sequel. Not a reboot but sequel.
