Correction (Feb. 22, 2021): In this story, we incorrectly say officers jumped out of a cruiser outside the Onslow fire hall and began firing. In fact, Sharon McLellan told us it was not a cruiser and she believed it was a Hyundai. This update clarifies our note from Feb. 17, 2021, which read: In this story, Sharon McLellan is incorrectly quoted as saying she saw officers emerging from a "passing cruiser" and begin shooting at the Onslow fire hall. In fact, she said the men emerged from an unmarked vehicle.

More needs to be done then just a KZbin comment titled as an correction. A full disclaimer needs to be made at the very beginning of the video and/or during the Onslow-Belmont Firehall segment. You were graciously given eye witness testimony and failed to report accurately and sincerely. The public deserves a proper and truthful representation of the events of April 19th and 19th, 2020. This fact should not be glossed over.
@stevecopperheadearle80663 жыл бұрын
Unacceptable. Mrs. MacLellan stated that a dark Hyundai pulled up to the firehall and two officers with assault rifles opened fire on the firehall! Why was this was this omitted in the final cut and rebranded an "unmarked cruiser"? What else was reported incorrectly?
@sharonmclellan76683 жыл бұрын
No sharon told you it was a 4 door grey Hyundai, you chose to say a passing cruiser. My exact words were "a 4 door grey Hyundai like something my neighbor would drive" This is exactly why I was hesitant to do an interview. I knew the truth would not be told!
@mizzfoxx18343 жыл бұрын
What is wrong with your news outlet? The only way the public could possibly be more upset about your lack of detail is if more of us are forced to contact the ombudsman and file a formal complaint. Sharon never said it was an unmarked car, not once, she specifically said it was a grey Hyundai. She wasn't unsure, she didnt say maybe it was unmarked. She said grey Hyundai. We assumed that when you admitted to your faults and stated that you would correct this mistake, that thousands of people were incorrectly informed on, that you would issue an actual public statement or entirely separate correction video as an added part of your series. This is a despicable misuse of a witnesses trust and time. As reporters, as THE news, your outlet should know better than to drag yourselves through the dirt like this. 2 officers, dressed all in black, with rifles, jumped out of a GREY HYUNDAI and lit up the firehall filled with civilians! Over 30 bullet holes in the siding, one in the engine block of a firetruck, and more randomly in the monument, garage door, and garbage bin from which they took cover. Gross miscarriage of justice and a near murder in itself for them to fill a civilian firehall with bullets...after jumping out of a Hyundai, not a passing cruiser and not an "unmarked" car. Get the facts straight. This is not a word playing game. People died and the RCMP almost carelessly killed even more. Reporting on the car they were driving, correctly, should happen without question, without dozens of civilians needing to be in an uproar about you playing scrabble with Sharon's statement, in which you hardly corrected anything.

There should be a full inquiry with complete honesty. The families should sue the RCMP, especially those who were killed that morning. The RCMP must put procedures in place and make staff aware of them for putting out media alerts. It’s unconscionable that they waited as long as they did. Domestic violence must be taken more seriously by the courts. People who have multiple grievances should be on a watch list or interviewed each time they make a complaint by police.

The problem is that the RCMP is SUPPOSED to be putting policies and procedures in place, but they refuse to do the work. Incorrect, The car was not sold with markings on it. GW had the RCMP decals made by Allan Griffon a convicted Drug Trafficker, who was on parole at the time and worked at Sid Sells Signs in Truro. And all the guns were smuggled from the US with the exception of one he got from a family member and another gun he took off the female RCMP officer he killed. GW Did not have a firearms license most likely due to his assault charges and threats he made in previous years. RCMP should have investigated previously when multiple people informed them he had illegal weapons and when a local Truro police officer also put out a notice about GW having illegal guns as well as the tip they received he wanted to kill a police officer. Do some research and get your facts straight.

Imho we NEED concealed carry in Canada, NOT punishment of legal gun owners by taking away their firearms. Criminals have taken over, and they don't care what law or bylaw prohibits firearms, because they don't follow the law. The gang members and criminals conceal carry snub nose pistols with exteneded mags. If some people had concealed carry, it would never have gotten to 22. Someone wouldve taken him out, instead of being sitting ducks, waiting for police. Remember folks, when seconds count, police are only minutes away. I am from Surrey Bc and believe me that the criminals and gangs have already taken over here. Daily shootings and drive bys. Its similar in Toronto and every other major city in Canada. We need concealed carry in Canada, for LAW ABIDING LEGAL gun owners (who have a RPAL, no criminal record, extensive background checks and mental health checks should be conducted, and a 2day class and test that they must score atleast 90% to pass). I really hope legal law abiding gun owners arent PUNISHED for something they haven't done.

@@jacksonjacob7791 agreed. We are so flooded with illegal handguns from the USA. That's apart from 3d printed guns (fgc9 anyone can make it with a $200 3D EndEr printer), and guns made at home from hardware store parts. Recently they stopped a dude in Saskatoon, who was making PERFECT Mac 10 submachine guns in his garage, and selling them to gangs (included in the package was a PERFECT exact WORKING copy of a MAC 10, three extended mags, and a silencer. All made in his Garage. ) I really hope we don't throw away our rights, the only proper gun control is when law abiding gun owners are allowed to defend themselves from criminals and not punished for it.
