The time was written up as 6:10 pm. The Meter Maid was still on the lot so I approached him with my receipt and asked why. He took the ticket from my hand and ripped it up and continued on. Always fight your tickets! I've had 4 tickets in the last decade and haven't paid any of them. I went to court and they had to prove I was guilty. Three times the ticket was thrown out because of highly confusing parking signs and the 4th was a speeding ticket (going 70km in a 60km zone). Since I contested the ticket the cop who gave it to me had to show up in court. He didn't show up so the ticket was again thrown out. He was handing out tickets using radar about 20 meters from the sign where the speed goes down. The judge looked disgusted when it was pointed out to her what he was doing so I think it's probably for the best that the cop wasn't there. He probably knew it and that's why he didn't show up. I've saved over $1000 over the years on tickets that I didn't deserve. Always fight your tickets. Unless you've got money to burn, in which case, send some my way please!

They could try that but that can easily be defeated by screen shooting your picture on your phone. Since pictures are time stamped by your phone.

If you want to block your plates from. (NPRC) number plate recognition cameras. I put IR diodes around the plastic piece thats goes around your number plates ( you can buy these off the net ) & when any camera red light or speed or (NPRC) they will only see the number plate as bright white light that they are unable to read you can still see the number plates physically with your eyes and because you have not physically altered the number plate it is totally legal is most states and countrys. I'm in Australia they have cameras every where I put this device on my car 4 years ago and have not received any parking, speeding or red light fines since I installed it

I fell for an unmarked crosswalk bait trap in Seattle. The sign says it is OK to park there, but it was really an unmarked crosswalk. It looks like they did end up moving the sign to the right spot years later. There should be a class action lawsuit to take back all these fines given out fraudulently.
@winterfell99905 жыл бұрын
Ive been working in parking enforcement for a while and trust me when I say that this has nothing to do with corruption and everything to do with ignorance. Bylaw doesnt put the signage up but the transportation department does, the people who designate where these signs go dont really see where they are putting them, they just point on the map and say "there" whether it contradicts other bylaws aswell. our jobs as bylaw is to enforce that but no parking officer who has any sort of experience will give these kinds of BS tickets. these are mainly issues in big cities because parking officers have high turnover rates and are inexperience as to the ethics of the job

In Montreal, in winter, we saw a police officer "Hiding" the moment we were parking. We walked right after getting out of the car to pay for parking to the parking machine. Upon our return, we found a ticket on our windshield and its time was second after we paid our parking spot. We had to contest it, waste of time. Judge dismissed it as if he was used to seeing these type of tickets.. Sometimes people don't have a way to find time to even go to court to contest it and have to pay for this..
@theeldialblo48075 жыл бұрын
Suggestions for solutions: 1) Rules like not parking near a side walk or park near a fire hydrant shouldn't apply if a sign says you can park on the spot 2) Required the CCTV cars to get pictures to prove the driver isn't sitting in the car and if the driver sits in the car set a time limit before the car is considered parked with the requirement that they need to get atleast one more picture 3) Anyone who wins a case in court for a faulty parking ticket should be entitled to 10 times (or another appropriate number) the sum of the parking ticket in compensation, then it wouldn't be beneficial to misuse the authority if the parking enforcement can expect atleast one of ten to challenge the case

Got a ticket 20 yrs ago at the Longueuil metro station, for not locking my car doors. Later heard that Montreal was the car theft capitol of Canada. But going after the law abiding citizen is a backwards approach. As a day tourist who lived across the border in NY for many yrs, I came to Mtl often, as it's still my fav city to walk around in. But I haven't came as much since then, & certainly not until I got a different car, w/ a diff tag, as I was not about to pay it. I'm obsessive about locking the door, but this was one of those rare instances I didn't check.

Wow, I don't know what the rules are in Alberta, but the Ontario Highway Traffic act says this about parking vs stopping: “park” or “parking”, when prohibited, means the standing of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except when standing temporarily for the purpose of and while actually engaged in loading or unloading merchandise or passengers; (“stationnement”) “stop” or “stopping”, when prohibited, means the halting of a vehicle, even momentarily, whether occupied or not, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer or of a traffic control sign or signal; (“arrêt”) I'll add in standing because that is the exception to parking, not stopping. Don't worry, it's just stopping but lets people get in and out the vehicle, too. Like the guy in Calgary picking up people. That's OK to do in a paid parking space, because it isn't parking. “stand” or “standing”, when prohibited, means the halting of a vehicle, whether occupied or not, except for the purpose of and while actually engaged in receiving or discharging passengers; (“immobilisation”) If those cameras can't tell the difference between parking, stopping, and standing, then you can't use them that way. Instead, it should alert the officer inside the camera car to take a look to ensure they're not just stopped before handing out a ticket.
