I'm an electrical engineer (Class of '74) my emphasis was/is RF and radar. I have been trying to tell people about this for many many years - no one listens. These devices are more radio transceivers than anything else, they emit non-ionizing radiation - that is how a radio transmitter works. RF electromagnetic energy can do nasty things to your cells (and the DNA they contain, which is very fragile). We live in an absolute soup of non-ionizing RF, from the phones, to AP's which are everywhere now, nudie scanners (millimeter wave RF) at airports etc etc. Like any other type of radiation, non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation is neither felt, tasted or smelled, unless the dosage is very high and/or the distance to the emitter is very small (by that time its too late).There is a formula to calculate this. In the mean time even at low dosage it is wreaking havoc on your poor defenseless body, whose cells operate at < a millivolt (1/100th of a volt). I do carry a phone, I use it as infrequently as possible, keep it in my purse - and I NEVER hold it up to my head - ever. These devices are not passive, nor are they benign - please limit your exposure.

@@System-br1tx To be honest, I just turn my WiFi off and use RJ-45 for everything. You can indeed buy a RJ-45 micro-USB adapter for a phone (Android, not sure about Apple considering the jail they put you in...) if you really want to use your home network. I don't turn off wifi for health reasons, more for security reasons and performance reasons, but the health thing is just another reason to not use it. Don't use WiFi people, it's just bad in every way. Use RJ-45.

BTW... It does NOT matter if you call on the phone or not. Your phone is constantly pinging the cell towers unless you have it on Airplane mode. When you text, it still sends out a transmission and is ALWAYS listen/waiting/pinging to see if there is a message for it to receive, This is how your phone displays the signal strength. AND how you receive calls and texts ... always checking the tower to see if you have a massage/call. Also if you use the bluetooth earbuds you are transmitting from the phone into a smaller receiver in your ears that again is constantly pinging the device to see if it needs to connect. Best to use speaker phone or wired headphone/earbuds.

And with what we know about tobacco ppl still smoke in cars and homes with children who have no choice in the matter. Smoking in a home or car with kids should be downright illegal yet it's not. Why does it take society so long to fix things? Children are innocent and cannot make decisions or change anything when they have selfish despicable ppl around them poisoning them. This is something long overdue for correcting. I feel tobacco should only be legal with stringent requirements to stay the hell away from ppl. U wanna poison yourself that's your right but to smoke in front of a store where ppl have to walk through it should be a crime. You can't be intoxicated in public but u sure can smoke and poison everyone around u. Just wrong wrong wrong! And yeah it's big $$ in tobacco that has kept the right thing from being done. With everything we know at this time about how bad it is we still tolerate it and why??? Anyone smoking around a child or any non smoker should be imprisoned for causing physical harm and pollution. The world disgusts me in that we so easily just look the other way. If someone was putting a child in harms way we would do something about it. If someone smokes in the home/car a child sits in nothing is done. Smokers are the ignorant fools causing harm hurting others around them and they litter the streets with ciggarette butts right in front of the police yet nothing is done. Why not do a story on that!! Wake ppl up and fix the laws so we can help those who cannot help themselves!

samsung website: SM-G930T THIS DEVICE MEETS FCC LIMITS FOR EXPOSURE TO RADIO WAVES Your mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed not to exceed the limits for exposure to radio waves (radio frequency electromagnetic fields) adopted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). These limits include a substantial safety margin designed to assure the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health. The radio wave exposure guidelines use a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit for mobile devices is 1.6 W/kg. Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operating positions with the device transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands. The highest SAR values under the FCC guidelines for this device model are: Head : 0.85 W/Kg Body-worn accessory : 1.07 W/Kg Product specific(wireless router) : 1.04 W/Kg Simultaneous transmission : 1.59 W/Kg During use, the actual SAR values for this device are usually well below the values stated above. This is because, for purposes of system efficiency and to minimize interference on the network, the operating power of your mobile device is automatically decreased when full power is not needed for the call. The lower the power output of the device, the lower its SAR value. Body-worn SAR testing has been carried out at a separation distance of 1.5 cm. To meet RF exposure guidelines during body-worn operation, the device should be positioned at least this distance away from the body. Organizations such as the World Health Organization and the US Food and Drug Administration have suggested that if people are concerned and want to reduce their exposure, they could use a hands-free accessory to keep the wireless device away from the head and body during use, or reduce the amount of time spent using the device.

Sitting near your internet router also has high RF exposure in many cases, Smart meters, DECT phones and bases, leaving your phone to charge near your head at night can affect your quality of sleep as well. Shame on all corporations that put money ahead of their fellow man no matter what race, color or religion they are. Really pathetic and what you allow will come back to you in future. Just through a number of coincidences, I went without my cell phone anywhere near me for over 6 months and it is the only major variable I can attribute to the significant change in my mental and physical being. Looking back now, I feel like almost a different person that was asleep for years and the years are pretty hazy. I don't fret about this segment of my memory that is murky and hard to describe, because I feel so much clearer and in tune with everything. The observations I make about segments on the news (especially related to political stuff) always end up catching the attention of my friends and family because I point out some fallacy of logic or contradictions separated by only a few sentences and to me they are so blatantly obvious and yet these people I love and trust and respect were oblivious to them. My phone stays away from me now on purpose and off unless I have good reason to keep it on. Get a pager to carry on you if you must. Keep the cell phone for absolute emergencies. Constant bombardment by these electromagnetic waves (which are very simple but very misunderstood - can range from benign radio waves to hardcore radiation like Chernobyl).

@mokahless7 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the tests presented in the video lean towards fear rather than good testing. They never tested a normal power level for a phone, only a worst-case (ie cottage with really bad reception) which is a massive power increase. However: * Microwaves have those cages for a reason - to keep the radiation in * Tobacco, alcohol and drugs are a really separate issue here. * light radiation and the sun is completely different kind of radiation. * Both FM and AM are below the Microwave frequency range, unlike WiFi and cellular * WiFi - the concern here was the massive increase in radiation absorbed the closer the device is to you. In this case, WiFi is part of the radiation of the phone and is at the same theoretical concern level. Most other devices, though, including the AP are not normally within 15mm of your body. You've well summed-up with a sarcastic statement what CBC did wrong here: not explaining what needed to be explained thereby causing misunderstandings.

I use loudspeaker when possible, this way my phone is some 20-30 cm away from my head most of the time. And I think it might be wise to carry my phone in my backpack or something. Btw, how do the Bluetooth hands-free devices measure in this radiation scale?
@Dazzwidd5 жыл бұрын
I think you'll be okay, using speaker like that has already dramatically reduced your exposure. I do the same thing. Radio Frequencies follow the inverse square law of distance. To put this into simple terms, approximately speaking, if you double the distance, the signal intensity is cut down by 75%. So think how much the exposure is reduced going from 1.5cm to 30cm which is 20 times further. or even from the phone being on your ear to being 20cm away. You'll be fine

3 years ago... Watching this in 2020, when cellphones are about 10 times faster and more powerful than the ones in this video, plus 5G is right around the corner of mass use... Hmmm... Plus the fact that the phone manufacturing companies *still* use the excuse of old fashioned, totally outdated information and regulations to make their phones reach "minimum safety standards"... NOT a good thing!... Updates to rules and regulations NEED to be made immediately, and those newer stricter, more realistic use standards need to be enforced to require ALL phone manufacturers to meet those stricter guidelines!... People aren't realistically going to give up the convenience of having their phones close to their bodies, so stricter standards of safety MUST be implemented! This is kind of scary... and ridiculous! (that the safety rules haven't been updated, even though phones and peoples habits have changed in recent years!)

I went with Magic Jack and wired it to my in house phone jacks and use corded phones with answering machine. Also I have my Verizon router on a timer to shut down at bed time.
