His music, his voice, the lyrics he wrote and the expressions when he sings them. He's like a magnet when he's on stage, just draws you in. You can always tell when a singer puts their true feelings into a song vs songs that are just put together to sell.

The freedom and spontaneity of this artist is contagious. I had a 1973 Chevy LUV pickup with "Teaser and the Firecat" on 8 track Cat Stevens is still on of my favorites. The eternal teenager...that's his Magic!

In 1975, May 25th, I pulled up next to a VW “Thing” at Ala Moana shopping center. There was Cat Stevens and Alun Davis, so I went up to them and said “hi, you’re Cat Stevens, I’m going to your concert tonight!” He said “ yes I am, how will the weather be?” I said “perfect, it will be perfect”....it was.

Great interview, Tom. Thanks for sharing here. I first heard of Cat Stevens in 1971 when "Where Do The Children Play" was played at the end of a CBC(?) documentary or in-depth news story on slums & urban development. (We only got CBC on the TV so I'm assuming it was one of their pieces) I was 16. Since then his music has been an integral part of the soundtrack of my whole life! The fact that he's still such a genuine, caring person makes me so glad he's returned to the public eye!

So many important biodiversity measurements we hear about today begin at 1970; for example, WWF has reported a 58% decline in wild animal populations since that year and half of ocean life. 'Where Do The Children Play?' is indeed prophetic. Seeing light at the end of the tunnel while preserving our humanity is exactly the vision people need now and in the future. May your voice live for countless generations to come, Yusuf / Cat Stevens!

Cat, I would love some day to sing for you, Ready, Ruins, or Sitting to start. You cared for me my whole life with your music and with your words, you did help me to find my way. It was my older cousin back in the mid 70's that introduced me to your music and "although I like many, it is your music and words that guide. I will be doing a song within a few months for my cousin because he had asked me many times to sing for him back in the days and 2021 will be the year. I love you Cat and I thank you for all the guidance. Some day once you hear me my friend, I hopefully request you and I some day, we sing.

He chose Islam. He should of asked God first. If he did, Cat was not listening for the answer. I was a fan of his as a teen. Now all his songs about Peace and Love sound hollow. It was Jesus who taught a Revolution of Peace and Love, entirely different to that of Moses.

Roman Empire changed entire Jesus teaching.. thats why you believe in ancient roman belief of Trinity.. The Roman hate Jesus, how come later on they worship him.. Actually they mixed their ancient believe into New Religion by using Monotheistic Names with Pagan's Rituals.. if you truly wanted to follow Jesus Teaching, you could read this link..👇 quran.com
