I grew up in the early 70's with 3 older sisters. My oldest sister had the best musical taste. My other 2 sisters listened to bubble gum music, but the oldest brought home Carole Kings Tapestry album. Carly Simon. The Moody Blues and a Cat Stevens album. His music became a back drop to my life. Most childhood memories are interwoven with his music. I remember which season it was when one of his songs were hits. I have a very short list of songs I consider to be the best songs ever written. To this day, i think "Peace Train" is one of the best songs ever recorded. From the arrangement, the recording, the lyrics, the background singers, the mixing of the tracks...its an absolute classic. To conceive that song and to make it a reality, for the world to enjoy is magical to me. Broke my damn heart when he retired from music. I would always wonder how many other gems he would have written that we would all know and cherish had he never took that break. But i get why he retired. Just happy he's back sharing the gift God gave him.
