I worked for Francis in the 1980s. He really is a good man who cares about people. You feel like family when you are around them. Eleanor Coppola was a very calm, sweet and intelligent human. The last time I saw her was when I was moving on, she was on a walk and stopped my car and thanked me for everything I had done for her family. She was with her newborn first grandchild, Gia. She was a special kind of lady.

This is such a fond memory, thank you for sharing it. Somehow I connected to Francis easily, even though I don't know him personally--his family is from Basilicata, Italy, and so was my late Dad. It was a poor area off the tourist track--those roots are clearly reflected in his films.

Your comment about the movie industry is right on point. And TV--it's in some ways a golden age, a lot of productions are being made, yet few are really well made. I pass by our local movie house weekly and notice that everything shown there is poor quality and forgettable. Yet producers spend millions to make these films.

It's not incredible at all. Intentions have nothing to do with the quality of an artistic project. Is it difficult to understand? It would be very easy to be a great artist if the only thing you needed was good intentions. By the way "can´t we just get along" is what everybody feels, but reality is much more complex. That's why we don't get along.

@@tomallen5837 it’s one hell of a trippy movie. The first half was intriguing but it went off the rails by the second. I definitely admire Coppola for making an art house movie with a hefty budget out of his own pocket and dares to challenge the studio system that goes for safe movies. My guess is maybe he has a longer version planned for home release. I definitely was split by the film overall but it was intriguing

Francis Ford Coppola is the kind of guy who's unconventional by nature, yet who's caught up in an industry that traffics in tropes, safe bets, tried and true formulas, so he differentiates himself by thinking outside the box. And by doing this over an extended period of time, he has become something of a culture critic. Like he said, at this point, he is not doing any 🎥for the 💰💰💰
