Amazing dedication and effort. This is long overdue. Now we are facing serious food shortagez all available green spaces should be utilized. Please do a longer reportage on this topic.

I really wish I liked vegetables more. I keep trying, new recipes, spices, etc., as the years have gone by, but I'm old now so it looks like it's not going to happen. I'm growing my best garden ever this year, using better soil amendments, row covers, shade cloth and such. My tomatoes are good, my carrots are great, my swiss chard, lettuce, and beets are fantastic. All things my gf likes, not me, lol.

You tried blended tomatoes as a base with curry spices and onion to cook chicken drumsticks and thighs (curried chicken)? Or blended tomato with basil, parsley and oregano for a beef bolognaise sauce on spaghetti? The tomato is very versatile, and if you prefer something sweeter you can grow their cousin the cape gooseberry / ground cherry, which is like a very sweet tomato with citrus undertones.

In the UK people are using allotments, some on private land, some on publicly owned land. The allotments have waiting lists for as long as 10 years. Each plot is assigned, there are some basic rules about things like trees, fences, and keeping the walking paths cleared. Average cost is minimal per year. Most allotments have a water supply, some have bathrooms, and most allow a small shed to store tools etc under lock and key. Some have an onsite store for seeds, compost, wood chips, and often gardeners share saved seeds, sell a few plants each spring to cover joint costs such as repairs. Why are ALL BC cities not doing this? It sets up community involvement, each plot "owner" can grow what they actually want, and the food is primarily organic.

We got 97 % crownland, which is only given to huge conglomerates for devastation like careless logging or mining. There could be little familly gardens and orchards started instead! Europe has this too. Would also lower our tremendous costs for storebought produce and would enhance local farmers markets instead.

The UK uses public lands for community growers called allotments. Each family/person is allowed a section. Trees are limited to dwarf varieties, but the trees are allowed. A small shed for tools to be stored with locks on it. People can grow what they want to eat, frequently share excess food, and work together to keep trash under control, paths clear.

The owners of the land (if not crown land) should get a "Green Card Pass" and a decrease in taxes ..

So what you are telling us is that the city does nothing to maintain garbage or any green spaces unless someone else comes in and volunteers to do all of the work. Is that right?

No, that's not right, it's about people doing what they can to IMPROVE the community, bring in the pollinators and have something pleasant to be around.

Oh ya??? You hear of the multi-national corporation in Quebec emitting 30x “safe arsenic limits” into our air???? Or the approved EV parts factory projected to emit 5x “safe nickel emissions” into our air????........ as a diesel tech, I can inform you for the last 10 years DPF’s and EGR’s allow very little noxious fumes into our air, same with catalytic converters....... it’s our politicians that are trying to kill us all 😷💉😵🤫🤫🤫💰💰💰💰

Far worse things then vehicle exhaust. The pesticides in the food you eat and that are allowed to be sold are far worse than exhaust. And hen their is the governments feeding people fentanyl instead of rehabbing them, which in turn causes massive amounts of crimes and shooting. Then in 2021 Trudeau went soft on gun crimes eliminating the minimum 3 year sentence for all gun crimes including habitual gun traffickers...look it up if you dont believe me
