I love Luke and Joel. They were nice enough to meet up with my son 10 years ago when my son was having issues with bullying at school. My son was not feeling good about himself having bad thoughts. They were in Houston and perfect timing and met with my son gave him tickets for the concert . They spoke with him and my son totally changed. The Lord helped my son by bringing them to speak to him and I am so grateful for that. 🫶🏻🙏

Luke is my favorite - what a class act. He's genuinely raw, loves Jesus and smart enough to use his talents as a platform to "shepherd" stories of hardship, faith, love and being seen.

Please take caution of presenting homeschooling as an inferior education. Your self spoken lack of reading and writing skills due to being homeschooled is an exception, not the rule for being homeschooled. Our two adult homeschooled daughters are one, a PhD Chemist, and two, a gifted school teacher. We need to take care of contributing to any assumptions that a homeschooled education is an inferrer education.

@@vickyCA1643Don't take their nit picking to heart. I'm a homeschooling parent too (having also been a long time public school educator). My kids are getting a far more robust education at home than they would otherwise, and I appreciated the heart and intent of your comment.

@@stever2726 Thank you for your kindness. I once would have doubted myself by others pointing out my errors, but I now live by the mantra that others don’t get to define who I am. It is only Christ who gets that place! Growing 66 years old has its advantages! Ha-ha. To me, their need to point out my mistakes says more about their character than mine. Again, thanks for the positive words of affirmation.

I look forward to seeing this movie and enjoy the singing of Rebecca St. James. I take exception to his comments about homeschooling. Homeschoolers consistently score 15% to 25% higher on standardized testing. I doubt his parents didn't do a good job teaching their kids to read or write.
@nintendosage775 ай бұрын
In and interview he did with Joel and Rebecca, he made that same comment. Rebecca then chimed in saying that wasn't true. The boys seem to love saying that, but it does seem to be a tongue-in-cheek statement.

I know he’s kidding but he shouldn’t tease about homeschooling & not reading or writing well. Homeschoolers are well ahead of the average public school child. Plus they get the benefit of family over peers which is very important. We are in the mess today partly because of children listening to their peers over adults. And if the family are Christian & read the Bible you get the best benefit.

Ouch! I have great respect for him, but his negative remark toward homeschooling, that he doesn’t read or write well because he was homeschooled, was gravely in error and not appropriate. If in fact he has difficulty with reading and writing, it would be solely due to his home education and/or an issue with him personally. But, to blame it on being homeschooled is not at all representative of the norm. And, if he was attempting to make a joke, it was not funny. In actuality, home educated children outperform public educated children. I was a public school teacher and then a home educator. I graduated my children from home education. From being involved in homeschooling personally and through being a homeschool evaluator for numerous years, I can assure you those who are/were homeschooled have excellent academic skills as well as far better communication skills among other qualities such as great character as well. I hope he rethinks his comment in this interview and adjusts it in the future to shed a positive light on homeschooling vs leaving a negative connotation in making a statement that simply is untrue. There will always be exceptions no matter what mode of education is chosen, but a blanket statement such as this one does not appropriately represent homeschooling at all.
