Detransitioner Oli London Credits Jesus, Church With Stopping Trans Surgeries: 'I Was...Very Lost'

Social media influencer Oli London said rediscovering faith helped convince him to detransition, stop life-altering gender reassignment surgeries, and turn his life around.
"Part of my de-transition was ... rediscovering faith," he told CBN's Faithwire, noting he went to church as a young child but by high school was no longer devout until he began detransitioning. "I really rediscovered my faith journey because I needed some guidance in my life. I was ... very lost, and this really helped me."
London, who is preparing for the Aug. 1 release of his book, "Gender Madness: One Man's Devastating Struggle with Woke Ideology and His Battle to Protect Children," praised the Christians he encountered along the way, calling them the "most kind, inclusive, incredible, non-judgmental community."
"They really are so embracing of anyone," London said. "No matter what you've been through, we all sin ... but ... it's about recognizing that, dealing with it, and then trying to learn from that experience in order to help others."
He said his own experience has helped him let go of some of the guilt and past struggles he had, including the emotional turmoil he put his family through with all of his surgeries.
"I have to learn to live with that, because I can't take it back," London said. "It's happened. But I can learn from that and I can use that to try and help others." He's grateful for the church and the "teachings of Jesus," and said he had to come to accept himself for who God made him to be.
"No matter how we look, how we identify, we are God's creatures," he said. "So, we need to learn to accept that."

So true, on the cross, as Isaiah 53 says by his stripes we are healed. That said some people do need good biblical counseling to separate previous lies that they believed and replace them with truth and receive deliverance from the lies by repentance of having accepted them, renouncing (Confessing you want nothing to do with them now as you confess that sin to one another), and serious layers of prayers best done by someone with the gift of discernment if they were deep into stuff that they need deliverance prayer from and lots of intercession on their behalf.

My oldest child is struggling with Gender Dysphoria. She believes she is male. She had sexual trauma at age 10, and didn’t tell us until she was 16. She has PSTD. She got into a group of friends that mostly are LBGQT, and also they had sexual trauma. Some are involved in drugs. She believes that I am a bigot, and don’t love and accept her. I'm the Christian mom of a child who struggled with gender dysphoria since childhood. She struggles with it to this day as an adult. Over the years I have struggled to find help in dealing with this issue in a loving faith based way that didn't damage our relationship with her or make her feel alienated from the church. I have a real hope and pray that the Lord will work with her heart like He did with Oli and heal her in soul and mind.

The issue is when people don't accept trans folks as they are. The suicidality in the whole trans community is about 40%. Studies show that when a trans person has one person in their lives that affirms their identity, that rate goes down significantly. Studies also show that transitional care reduces anxiety, depression and social distress. Here's a couple of those studies: - James, S., Herman, J., Rankin, S., Keisling, M., Mottet, L., & Anafi, M.A., 2016 - Gomez-Gil, et, al., 2012 Additionally, the study below found that less than 0.5% of the participants regretted their transitions or detransitioned. And among those who had an adverse reaction to their transition, most reported that it was due to external factors which had nothing to do with their identities. That study and another similar study are: - 3rd Biennal EPATH Conference Inside Matters. On Law, Ethics and Religion, 2019; Davies, McIntyre, Rypma, 2019 - Turban, Loo, Almazan, Keuroghlian, 2021 One last thing... the DSM 5 prescribes transitioning for trans people.

Commonly found in trans youth are symptoms and diagnosises of ADHD, Autism, depression, internet addiction, PTSD from sexual trauma or abuse or grooming and other mental disorders that can be treated with therapy. Many detransitioners have also marked a realization that they were simply LGB, and not actually trans. Another huge factor? Age. The age where most children today are "coming out" as trans is anywhere from 12 to 17, which correlates strongly with puberty. Historically a very uncomfortable process, especially for people who have mental issues like I mentioned earlier. I would like to know the average age of the participants in these studies, as many older trans people have commented on the 7-10 year mark after transitioning where underlying mental issues become a severe problem again, and suicide rates skyrocket. Along with that, what is the rate of loss of contact with participants? Am I saying that gender affirmative care is wrong? No. For people who genuinely have gender dysphoria, it can indeed be life saving. But there needs to be processes and safeguards that NEED to be put in place to catch the people simply suffering from other issues and looking for a way out, or people following a trend. In the same way that being depressed and anorexic, or being bipolar, or having ADHD, or having multiple personalities was the trend, being trans is the current trend and these kids need to be kept safe through it.

I used to see videos of this man who changed his whole life to fit into a image that he wanted to obtain for his vein and ego. He always seemed so sad to me. He used to preach a message that you can be whoever you want and stay true to yourself all while trying to be someone else entirely. It was heartbreaking. I am not christian - I was raised in a cult - the similar one to your ex cult. Only ours did not allow blood transfusions - you understand which cult I am on about? Anyway, I have been praying recently for my daughter - my eldest who has been back and forth on this ideology for the past 8 years. She's 22 now. I worry greatly for her and don't want her going down this irreversible and destructive path. My kid as you are probably well aware, was led down the garden path by a cult ideology. I'm so worried about her. If she goes down this path, she effectively k!lls part of herself and that is difficult to contend with as a parent. She's disowned me right now because I refuse to affirm a fantasy. I have taken massive steps to ensure my other 3 kids do not fall into the same cult ideology. It seems to be working so far. I would take my youngest out of school if I could but I can't because I have had CPS in as a result of all of this with the eldest. Basically I have to do as CPS says or I lose my kids.
