I thought nobody could replace Charles Kuralt in this “On the road with Charles Kuralt”. Well Steve Hartman IS that man with these kinds of stories then and today, March 1st 2020. Good man!

When I heard the commentators voice at first, I thought that sounds like Steve Hartman. To my surprise, it was a very young Steve Hartman! I love what you do. Bringing the best of America, to light.

This is the marvelous program. I am a hospice nurse and I know the story of each of my patients. If they are married or widowed I ask how they met their spouse. Many of my patients in their late 80s and 90s were USO doughnut girls or hostesses. These were local girls who volunteered, with the support & supervision of their families, volunteered for their local USO. I love the stories

How did I miss this? Until 13 years ago, I lived in Moscow, ID, about 33 miles north of Lewiston, ID. I remember seeing David's face in the Lewiston Tribune the few times I picked it up (Moscow had its own newspaper), but I never knew what kind of column he did. And look at that fresh-faced Steve Hartman!!

Handsome couple he & his wife were. Of course we all have a history. It’s why there’s a history class in high school. Which I noticed was right behind Steve as he was standing at a real pay phone. Haven’t seen one of those in a while! I’ll take a human interest story any day. Thanks Steve. Great dart throw BTW!

This is basic journalism, the way I was taught it. When you had to find stories before the Internet. My editor used to say that everyone had a story, and a good reporter should be able to dig it out and write it.

I love telling stories and talking to people about everyday life..., but this episode struck a chord with me because I have a phone number that I want to call but I'm scared. This particular number came to me in a dream, with no area code, which means it's from the state I live in. I've had this number for about three months now and still haven't called..., what is the person on the other end of the line going to think...? just some stranger calling. What would you do, would you call? I'm dying to know who's going to answer.
