Sadly, this has been going on for many yrs, and by highway patrol in certain states, especially in certain areas. They claim it's the proceeds of ill-gotten gains, most times, without even stating what crime that guessing game came from. They might counter "well you didn't pay the IRS, Or taxes on it, that's a crime. It becomes a civil matter. In Civil court the burden of proof of innocence, unfortunately, is always put on you. You are never innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Not in civil court. In these thefts there's always a reasonable doubt almost always.

Do it right and it does not matter if they have a warrant or not they leave empty handed everytime. A white woman takes a flight from California to New York City. Her name is Sarah and she's moving over $100,000 in cash value and she declares that she's getting married and even shows her engagement ring. Deborah in african-american woman in her thirties is moving over $100,000 in cash. When Deborah is questioned she says nothing. And so the white police officers fill in the blanks for her and take her cash. It is for that reason that Deborah ends up in New York without any money. After arriving in New York Sarah leaves the airport, and she goes to a shop where she exchanges her ring for a little less than $100,000.00 in cash. And there is no-one there to take her cash.

TO ALL LAW ABIDING CITIZENS: NEVER volunteer consent! Instead say “Am I detained?” - this will start a timer on how long they can reasonably detain you for your potential future lawsuit, if necessary. Then, if asked for consent to search, say “I don’t give consent, I reserve my right to remain silent, and any questions can be directed to my lawyer.” Video as much of your interaction as/if possible. Then keep your mouth shut, unless repeating the same statement to any further contacts from Law Enforcement. Additional statements by YOU to LEO’s can nullify that statement, so keep that in mind. Do not reengage the conversation, unless legally necessary (i.e. providing your ID, Date of Birth, etc., when required - like a traffic stop). DO NOT BE COMBATIVE!!! Be cordial, respectful, and confident. DO NOT ARGUE IN THE CURRENT SITUATION! If arrested, be compliant and relax. DO NOT TRY TO ARGUE YOUR CASE AT THIS POINT!! Your rights are more important than your schedule - it’s worth missing your flight. Any violations that are levied against you can easily be fought in court. You WILL NOT WIN with the arresting agency, so fight it in court. Look into Attorneys On Retainer beforehand. Having an actual lawyer retained prior to any possible issues with ANY branch of law enforcement will only benefit you in the long run.

All they have to do is accuse you of not being able to say where the money came from, but not arrest you. I've seen a man who had the receipt from the bank, they still took the money.They tell you to go to court and sue for the money, Knowing that the court costs is going to make you spend more money to get back that money. It's all a scam, that the courts seem to be a part of

You’re right; we need MORE public interest attorneys in this nation. Steve Lehto (channel) often covers cases being handled by the Institute and also regularly recommends them as an organization worthy of donating to.

I stopped flying public commercial 22 years ago, and now if I fly it's thru private small local airstrip because it's not worth it. Being treated like this when you're a law abiding citizen is sick, but no politician will help for fear of being in "defund cop" group.

Has anybody ever sued the department for punitive damages, harassment, etc…. They should be able to get back 2x the amount seized/stolen plus attorney fees??? Maybe even compounded monthly until the money stolen is returned 🧐
@1Cobranut
@1Cobranut 8 ай бұрын
Good idea, but it doesn't work that way. The money is what is charged, not the owner. For most amounts under $100k it will cost you more in attorney and court fees than the money is worth to try to get it returned, and even then you have no guarantee of winning. 🤬 Are you willing to gamble ANOTHER $100k?
