For a Chelsea Scout, Boy Scouts' name change is recognition she's been waiting for

The organization opted to change its name from Boy Scouts of America to Scouting America. The rebranding is set to become official next year. WBZ-TV's Brandon Truitt reports.

What is good for everybody is for boys to have their own space and girls to have their own space. My mother was a girl scout leader and we did all the same things the Boy Scouts did. What she did was a lazy cop out. She should have fought to make Girl Scouts better instead of contributing to ruining Boy Scouts dishonoring the eagle scout

I'm a mother of 4 Eagle Scouts. I was a Merit Badge Counselor. I was a Girl Guide in Singapore. There is NO reason to remove the "Boy" from the Boy Scouts of America. The Boy Scout values of being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent have provided a big tent for the past 114 years. There is NO NEED to rebrand. Should we rebrand "The White House" too? It has suffered scandals. What's next? Remove the "Girl" from "Girl Scouts". Give the boys and girls their space.

Scouting is a verb that means something entirely different. Scouting for what? It means surveillance. Spying. Looking for victims? Bad name.
