It is very unfortunate that Texans have to deal with this scam. I never had to deal with this in the past 5 states that I lived in. The burden of proof should be on them to present evidence of why the massive tax increase on your home is justified. There should a class action lawsuit against this.

In reality property tax is theft. Anytime you buy anything you pay a one time tax and houses should be the same.

Also, you are only a renter as long as you have to pay the govt to keep your property.

It is stealing nobody should have to pay property taxes. Looks like you're going to have to be doing some heavy cutting back. And it's about time politicians stopped getting rich in politics using taxpayers money to do it.

Every tax that you don't personally consent to, is theft! And if people consented, we would be handing over money willingly, without the government having to threaten us.

Our government seems to extract funds from our pockets while simultaneously allocating a substantial $33 billion in foreign aid each year. It raises questions about our collective silence on the matter-should we feel shame for not speaking up, or should the government bear the brunt of the criticism?

My argument would include the simple fact that my income is taxed in brackets, then the goods and other things I buy such as my home and property, the property is then taxed again. And Ive gotta do taxes once a year, we need to go fight all these taxes. Ole GW is probably rolling in his grave along with the ole Boston tea party.

Every person who owns a home in Texas should file for the Homestead exemption. It is $100,000 off the assessed value. It takes about an hour to do and can save you $800-900 a year in property taxes. I appealed my property value last years. I did just what he talks about in this video. I was able to reduce my assessment by $70,000

Why is my house magically worth more because of the new developments with completely modern everything are being built within a mile of me? Just because they're selling for more per square foot doesn't mean my old house is worth that much more.

America is so fucking backwards. I paid taxes when I bought a home to live in. Now I also have to pay property taxes to live in it. And when I sell I’ll have to pay taxes on it as well. Are we encouraging homelessness?

You are protesting the wrong issue! Don’t protest the amount…protest where the authority comes from. In a brief, taxation of your non commercial property is being misapplied by your county under the color of law. Protesting the amount of the tax in essence is saying you think the tax is ok, just not the amount. Please request a copy of this email I sent him. Taxes are handled locally, not by the state. Constitutionally speaking, the state has no inherent power to impose taxation on your non commercial property used as shelter. If the state has no power, there is no power that can be passed to your county. This is an extensive research of Federal and State Constitutions, State Statutes, State Administrative Codes, Blacks Law, American Jurisprudence, and case law already decided by competent courts. The research is based on Florida law and your state too will have similar laws being that all states must be in compliance with the law of the land…the united States Constitution.

Treat the home owner with respect, don’t act like you have all the power when meeting starts. Because then it feels meaningless when home owner starts to present!

Guess what I don't give a crap what it is worth. I worry at 68 what and how I can pay the property tax on low single income and afford to Retire in peace with no intention of selling. SO we pay taxes on thin air if we do not intend to sell. No wonder Seniors cannot afford to maintain their property. To be able to pay the extremely high Property Tax on thin air and NOT on what I paid for the house/property. I should not make upgrades. They also never base it on what the inside of the house looks like. TCAD says 100% Home Owner. I call BS. because you don't. I hate and dread appealing this crap every year and what about the Seniors you are unable and have given up on it. You are taxing us out of our homes. I pay $8k a year on taxes and insurance on a $26,000 income and how much does that leave me to live on?
