Former sanitation worker and Harvard Law student honors school's support staff

Rehan Staton, a former sanitation worker who went on to become a Harvard Law School student, started a nonprofit to guarantee that the support staff at Harvard Law will not only be seen, but celebrated. Steve Hartman has his story in "On the Road."

That story he told of being pointed at and hearing "Don't be like him" broke my heart. People are so ignorant and classist. My dad was a maintenance man for over 30 years at a nursing home. He worked hard and sacrificed so much for us. He just retired and is making more with his pensionS and social security than he ever did working. He's living his best life now and is young enough to really enjoy it with family. BE LIKE HIM! Thank you Steve for this story❤.

Wow! That is amazing! Many thanks to this young man for doing something no one else has thought of. It doesn’t take much to show and express gratitude to people. We should though because the shoulders we stand on today are the ones we are going to pass should the worst happen and we lose our place at the top!

As a custodian with almost 8 years experience I approve this message. I'm grateful to be working in a elementary school that recognizes not just me but all of the custodial staff and the work we gladly do. It ain't easy but we will get it done.

Yeah it’s a great story.. Im happy for him , wish him the best. But his HS gpa was 2.0? And they won’t even mention his college gpa or lsat score in detailed written article. Which means he was accepted to Harvard Law on a mostly subjective basis. Like David Hogg (who got rejected from Long Beach St. & UCLA, then stone man Douglass happened & Harvard made room for him?) & most celebrities. Which is fine, it’s a private institution , it can do what it wants for most part. But in long run, subjective selection is going to slowly ruin its prestige.. it’s already happening.

He deserved to be there (College GPA was good). He passed his Bar exam on the First try (Nov. 2023).. He's proving everyday to be an asset to that University. Just completed another successful ceremony (in honor of the staff) at Harvard this past April, 2024.
