This is like asking for peace in 1914. Each side would reject it over "land". When it's an endless war stalemate and there is no chance of getting back your land by military force (in case of Ukraine), you must negotiate to save lives. Would have been totally worth it in 1914, look at Europe now, there are no borders, everyone gets along. Might be the case with Ukraine and Russia one day.

Good point. The problem is that worldwide, each nation goes back to the glory days of their empire and insists that all the land they had back then is theirs. Not allowing each person true self-determination is the root cause of the problem. Their is way too much globalization in today's world, and greed is at the root of it. Forcing people to adopt a particular world view is what kills kids. Many people do not want to live in a democracy because they get no benefit from it. Those of us that want a democracy have to put up with constant change that gets very annoying at times because of the extreme activism that insists that everyone has to accept everything. No one can live like that. If we get rid of extreme idealogies and the 1 percent of trouble makers, then the vast majority of people will be fine. What is extreme? Extreme is insisting that everyone accept everyone and embrace all behavior. No boundaries. That is silly and dangerous. Strength and limits produce peace. Peace through strength brings lasting peace. Weakness invites horrible and unending wars. As long as everyone insists that everyone must like them and agree with them, you will have war. The US had success when people each could live their lives and have their own say without being censored or controlled by the elite. The rules were clear and hard, and it worked. People could do their thing as long as they did not force their views on others. Everyone got along in the Middle East until the Ottoman Empire collapsed, and with that, chaos ensued. Activist often are so determined to bend everyone to their will that they cause a blowback that makes everything worse. Everyone being tolerant is good, but forcing everyone to accept everything is totally evil. God gives free will out of true wisdom and LOVE. This is what brings peace.

A little too late for negotiating. The Ukrainian President, a novice, had already made a huge mistake of trusting NATO/US instead of managing Putin before the war. Yes, Pootin must negotiate to get Russian troops safe passage OUT of the sovereign country of Ukraine that is not their country and whose civilians, including women and children, they killed and unfettered passage BACK to their mother Russia. That's a good first step. The sovereignty and safety and security of every person, every citizen must be guaranteed in their own country against foreign invaders. That's clear as day.
