My dad's 10th grade teacher's dad was from Ghana. This was back in the early 1940s. She and her husband who was from America were special to him and became special to us (me, my brothers and my mom and dad who knew them well).

It was so nice getting to know them & knowing how hard they worked here to support extended families. Also, the sorrow they felt about leaving their homes.
