One of the great third acts in all of film from the final robbery until the conclusion was riveting, nerve wracking, explosive and terrible with a great ending that promises it isnt over not by a long shot. Maybe the best example of how good the acting was is how many times I've heard people mention the howl of pain from Bridges when his partner is shot or the scream of anguish when in fact he did neither, he barely made a sound but those few sounds carried all the emotion of any gut wrenching scream, Bridges is just that good he doesnt have to scream anymore. Chris Pine gave a truly inspired performance that I think will be a surprise for a lot of people who probably knew Foster could act and definetly knew Bridges could but Pine proves he can share and even command the screen with anybody. He and Foster have great chemistry throughout as do Bridges and Gil Birmingham who is in another Sheridan movie Wind River he isn't in it long but he gives a powerful performance nonetheless and goes toe to toe with Jeff Bridges in HHW. A movie that will stick with you long afterwards and for my money the most "American" film to come from America in awhile and I guess it's fitting it took a Scottish director Mackenzie to bring it to the screen.

''I think I've got these boys figured.'' Damn, this quote gives me the shivers. Jeff Bridges looks perfect for the sheriff's role. Can't wait to see this movie.

No doubt. Best picture, actor, supporting actor x2, director, cinematography, sound, screenplay, I'm sure it will get it's fair share.

And I sure hope that Nick Cave and Warren Ellis will get some recognition for the soundtrack they've made. They should have won an oscar for the soundtrack of Assassination of Jesse James.

Rozniq Burg I agree. The score was great. Unless a movie has original music, I don't think the score is eligible...

this movie should win a ton of oscars but the timing doesn't seem right and there's no homosexual characters

this movie is about texans but actually shot in new mexico. in the movie the man refer himself as lord of the plains, same as komanche. few years ago i traveled from japan to carrampaw creek in nm,the location where sheeton wrote his story about lobo the king of carrampaw which was based on actual story about the powerful wolf who once ruled the plains. much respect to wolves and komanche and texans who once owned the plains. great movie
