Miranda R Bernie sanders solutions is horrible 1) bernies ideas will ultimately end up taxing the middle class to a crazy amount to where people like myself who are middle class and went to college and got a degree will end up living like working class citizens. 2) he wants to increase the minimum wage right? Sounds good but let me tell you what the wealthy CEO’s of these companies are going to do. Since minimum wage is increasing and they are going to be loosing more money since they have to pay their employees more these CEO’s and owners are going to increase the prices of what they are selling. That includes housing, clothing stores, fast food places like McDonald’s, etc. and because of this his plan to increase minimum wage does nothing but hurt us in the long run even more. 3) he wants affordable healthcare for all right? Sounds nice but how is this going to happen? He’s plan is to increase taxes on the middle class by over 10%. Which would be more then what most middles class citizens are currently paying for, for their own personal health care insurance. Making Bernie health care policy way more expensive. 4) he wants free college for public universities. This sounds good except for the fact that the issue isn’t so much that college is expensive now, it’s the fact that people aren’t getting jobs in the fields in which their degrees are in. Their aren’t enough jobs in general that are hiring all these new college graduates in what fields they got their degrees in. For example you got almost 40% of college graduates that actually get jobs in the fields in which they majored in. The ones that aren’t are working in retail or other positions that don’t pay as nearly as much as what you need to pay off student loans. Bernie sanders ideas our good if this country was a Utopia. But we are not and at the end of the day it’s all about money. The government is just as much of a cooperation as any other business and they need money to do things like this which will end up coming out of our pockets. Also do to do a lot of the things he wants he will need to get past the senate and guess who has control of the senate, Republicans, none of his ideas will actually end up coming to fruition. He will be like every other politician which is someone with empty promises.

@PogChamp "which in turn dries up supply" No, it drives demand. This argument is used so many times it has been run into the ground. NIMBY laws are the reason for the lack of housing. If there are size and height limits for new construction, the only way for the developer to make money is to make them 'premium' condos. Anything else is not worth the investment. Look at San Fran, they don't let anyone build new units because of 'gentrification'. While the actual ethnic people can't afford to live i the city anymore. Free market is the only market. Anything else is a bastardized version of capitalism.

As sympathetic as I would like to feel towards human lives. I sadly do not have sympathy for families living in their cars because they choose to live a life in those circumstances and conditions. I am a very compassionate human being and have been Plant based for 8 years, I love all walks of life.. Although. Their are 49 other states with lovely economic opportunity. If you choose to make certain life decisions negatively impacting your family. That is absolutely selfishly on you! There are many gratifying life opportunities that can arise from living in this wonderful country. You choose to bring children into this world, well aware of the livelihood you will upbring your offspring into. I did not leave my beloved home of San Diego for a 6 figure income for nothing. I may not have been homeless but by all means know what is like to live on $8 an hour for a poverish life. Georgia is now my home, the city that made me will always be their and I can always go back.😊✌💖

Thank you. We are trying our best, taking it day by day. Since our interview more families has joined the safe parking program. Aaron's electrical scooter broke down, so now he is walking to the busses and added another bus ride each way. So it has added like 1 1/2 hour commute each way. Kids are ok, we had some colds that hit us but we are all better now. Was hard to do this interview, and even harder to watch. But if it helps shine some light on this and make people realize that the stigma most people have about homeless people. That we're not all alcoholics or drug addicts. That there are thousands of families too that are homeless. Then it was all worth it. Thank you for praying for us. - Silje, Aaron, Grace, Daniel and the guinea pigs.

Thank you. We have been asked from quite a few people if I could start a page. Been thinking yes or no for for a few days. Here it is. Thank you for just thinking about us, and your kind comments. It means a lot to know that we are still people even in this situation and not a pest that has to be taken care of. Been a few times when we went to the ER that as soon as they found out we were homeless we had to get out of there A$AP. Worst was when Grace was sick with a cold around Christmas and had 101.2 in fever and they couldn't get us out the door soon enough. Or when Aaron was taken in because he was suicidal and they placed him in a location for drug addicts....... And it's not just us, I have heard similar stories from other families we have met since we became homeless 2 years ago. Thank you again, for your kind words. Have a wonderful weekend.

My wife’s friend used to live near San Francisco with her husband. Both worked at a fast food restaurant and they were barely making paycheck to paycheck. When she got pregnant, they decided to move to Idaho since they both knew there was no way they would be able to live with a 3rd mouth to feed. Well it’s been 3 years now and they have 3 kids, are renting a house (their old apartment is the size of their current living room), she’s a stay at home mom and her husband is a supervisor at a fast food place. His current salary is higher now BUT still lower compared to their combined salary when she was working in San Francisco. Cost of living is so low that he is able to support all of them without her having to work. She said that with his salary, they can eat out at least once a month, support their hobbies (WoW players), have a comfortable life and if they’re frugal enough, go on a vacation trip. All this from a salary $15< hr. There’s a better way, these people just need the info.

@Alpha Centauri Question #1.) If the opportunity does not present itself, for whatever reason - this won't be a question to ask. Please spare me the outdated thrift store self help paperback book message how all of us can become rich if we just try..... 2.) It would be nice if everyone stopped and thought about how much children cost to raise, but ooooops pregnant again. We will have to make it work. Somehow......Again, not everyone thinks the way you do or believes in not having children or has access to birth control or whatever. 3.)Paycheck to paycheck makes it hard, sometimes impossible to move laterally, or any other way than the daily grind.....Once again, not everyone fits into a nice mold. No one is suggesting it is anyone else's fault. Perhaps it is no one's "fault", just a set of circumstances. Why is it important to judge someone based on income only? Well, I am one of the lucky ones. And I never take that for granted or use it as a tool to make myself more worthy than someone who doesn't. Imho, this is one of the richest countries in the world and there is no excuse to not do a better job with our own.

@Alpha Centauri Great that your plan to move worked out the way you wanted it to. Why do you assume that option is available and/or will work for everyone? One example may be someone in place due to needing to help out a sick family member, etc, etc. Not everyone has a choice, and some of these people are not "expecting" or actively able to make changes. People are humans and do what they need to do for whatever reason. Lol, why is that my problem? Alpha Centauri, what planet are you really from? You know as well as I do, unless you are like 13, there are many, many planned and unplanned births. Once again, in your world everything is decided, predicted and flows on a decision based plan. Seems to work for you, but you can't speak for everyone. Some are better positioned to help others as well, including large corporations, etc. Some do and imho, others should. Live a little and get back with me in 20 years. BTW, I agree that the economy is good. It has been in a slow recovery since the Bush administration, despite Trump saying it's all on his watch.

@Alpha Centauri obviously everyone is not a part of this current great economy. There are thousands of homeless, working people in every major city in America. As predicted a decade ago, there is an ever growing chasm between the haves and have not's. This social divide will eventually turn into a violent uprising against you folks that do "have" if not corrected. Even stock markets have corrections. Don't judge people based on your circumstances. One bad decision and you may be living in your vehicle with an emotional pet as well. If you're not part of the solution then you're part of the problem.

You need multiple jobs to get by with a family. And forget about benefits, like healthcare. It’s not that simple as moving to a state with lower costs of living, there are other factors. We have a housing crises here in Oklahoma too! lol Educate yourselves and google the housing crises. There are plenty of empty apartment buildings and homes for rent and sale where this man lives. They have them in Washington but it's not acceptable for families because each child has to have enough space and 2 heartbeats per room, must be same gender per room as well, that being said not possible, as for the families that get housed it's only until their youngest child turns 18 so it's acceptable to kick them out, while doing weekly inspections until then to make sure nothing is out of place or illegal such as pot and any alcohol can get their kids taken and kicked out, a full sink of dishes, a dirty toilet etc, that being said try not to be over worked or under the weather for too long... A lot of the places don't allow changes such as additional furniture.... Yeah lots and lots of rules us "homeless and lower classes have to abide by..." Although certain things should be fine for people to do here and there, it's not allowed when requesting help, also can't usually get help if you have pets, not all places accept them unless it's for the blind

It can be parked in some locations in a city, though you have to follow laws. There is BLM land where you can park safe and for free, using dump/fill stations (find apps and websites for free online that help you locate these). And there are RV parks with full hookups. It's a safe, temporary solution and one that he may find more affordable. It is hard times financially. Things are getting really bad for retirees in Florida too, due to taxes and inflation. There are bad areas all over the US, and a growing "Nomad" community, who aren't homeless but literally live on wheels of some sort. My best wishes to all in difficult situations financially.

He has to hope there is a position for him to transfer into in Texas. Making $17 an hour at the Post Office, it's very clear he is a PSE, non regular. So he is likely maxed out on pay until he gets converted to regular which would give him full benefits and guaranteed raises every 46wks. As a PSE if he wants to transfer, he loses all seniority so it puts him back on the list to try and make regular for the better pay and benefits. He could resign and reapply somewhere, but then runs the risk of not getting hired if they aren't hiring anyone at the time. Clerks who work the mail in the offices have a harder time finding jobs in other places because those jobs, unless in a plant, are ones that are rarely vacant for long. I hope the best for this man and his family. I really hope they can find a place to call home soon.

You're not going to easily get an equivalent job for $17 an hour in Texas.

A manager? A driver with tips? Even if it's an average line worker, I highly doubt it isn't a competitive position to get given the minimum wage there is 7.25 with most service jobs paying in the 8-11 range. Again, not saying there aren't things there that you couldn't do for that pay or better my point is more this a far more complex reality than regional identity politics.

In the mid 70's, I lived in the university district of Seattle. I saw the bulletin board on campus for room for rent for $50 per month. I went there and lady look at me and said " OK Here is the key and I paid $50 cash." No screening, no questions. Why? because the lady can kick me out if she wanted in one day notice that time. There were so many affordable rentals at that time before politicians put so many tenant protection laws and lawyers get in on hassling landlords. Believe me, I do not want these stupid tenant protections laws because I know that no landlords want to get rid of good tenants.

The greed for money of the great interests, is amazing. When the rich steals from the poor, is called business. When the poor reclaim their money, is called violence.
