I just started watching this and I am BINGING. And if I may just say, it's a very interesting show not just for black girls. For girls in general. Period! Sooo good.

Black & Sexy YT channel could learn from their alumni. IJS and not hating. Keep rocking Issa. Sky is the limit. She's doing big big things.

who's who who Issa is not a Black And Sexy alum-she was doing Awkward Black Girl at the same time they were doing their webseries. There was mutual respect for each others work and they Issa/B&STV decided to collaborate for a bit on The Number.

Some shows make it big some don't. It is what it is. From my understanding Issa always had her own YT channel

I'm not black and I'm not white, and I loved the first episode of Insecure! There is something for everyone and her friendship with Molly were some of the best parts! Too bad I don't have hbo, I want to see what happens in her relationship and professional life. Favorite part was when she threw caution to the wind and went up there and rapped!

I sometimes like Issa, but her suggestions in this interview are problematic. "I had White friends and so, the way I spoke was just . . . I spoke properly and that was considered talking White." In South Central L.A., they told her she was not Black because she "talked hella White." Do all White people speak "properly" and impart that "correctness" to their non-White friends? No. I had a White middle school teacher who said "pacific" when she meant "specific." Not all White people speak "properly" and not all Black people speak non-standard English. This essentially was her point, but she negatively and positively stereotyped a lot of people to make it.

atlmprof1 Lol, She's essentially saying this is what the kids expressed to her, which is quite possibly something she internalized. I'm almost positive she wasn't meaning offend anyone. As she was the one that was subject to criticism her damn self! Lol

Mrs. J OK, I'll go with that. Makes sense. Get your analysis on!

But I got this my whole life from family and friends. And I thought I was just speaking how I was taught. So this is not rare in the black community.
@reerbaadia18968 жыл бұрын
She is extremely talented and a very good actor but I disagree in the notion that her role depicts everyday black woman. within blackwomen are a diverse rich in perspectives with traits as deep as the Pacific. Let's stop trying to put them in a box.
@thebougiewinechick18695 жыл бұрын
Everyday black women does not mean EVERY black woman. They're basically saying that there's alot of 'everyday' black women who do relate to this show.
