I felt Adam choked after speaking to the Nepalese guy who traveled alone and seeing him leaving by himself.. And when Adam asked where he got all the strength, the guy said the most powerful words, “faith in God.” Adam felt for the guy who showed him what courage and faith is about, and made him realize how lucky he was.

As an American, Ive always been annoyed about our immigration problem. However, hearing these stories has given me a new perspective on everything. The part where the guy says he's "fortunate enough to not understand why these people are doing this" really hit hard.

@DarlaAnne 26 күн бұрын
Same. I'm half hispanic but was not ever really connected to those roots. I used to dismiss like everyone else "they broke the law" etc. I see these stories and realize I'd never get through this journey and only because of random luck of my great great grandfather migrating here is this not me or my family. It puts a lot in perspective. We need immigration laws and a secure border but we need compassion and humanity just as much.

im cuban and icompleted this journey when i was 12 in 2016 along with my parents and other migrants we met in the way i safely made it to the united states but i would never do it again and dont recommend it to anyone, it is the hardest thing ever. And we saw many people die or get deported in the way. out of a group of 10 cubans who where with us during the journey 2 of them are still very close friends with us and we meet for every Christmas/ birthdays/new year/ and thanksgiving because is like if we were a real family and each other is all we got in this country. The people in this video had it easy we didnt have anyfood aside for brown sugar and uncooked oatmeal we made with the water from the river. and my mom and i got our periods there and we didnt have supplies. it is important to not take everything for granted and be grateful for everything you have even if its just a little

Either hope, or insanity, The Darien gap is synonymous with tragic consequence and demise - a lone traveler has a very poor Chace of surviving such a perilous attempt. It is fraught with marauding gangs of drug smugglers, millitant fugitives and outcasts of society. Any presence is a threat to their cover, and sternly I'll advised. You are looked upon as spy, and frequently dispatched then and there, never to be heard of again, lest your skeletal remains be discovered months, or even years later, strewn across the jungle floor after having been ripped open, dismembered and consumed by Wild ravenous scavenging animals.

Many times we think we have nothing. But in the matter of fact, most of us know NOTHING about "to have nothing": no home, no house, no money, no food, no country...nothing. These people have nothing indeed !! They are not seeking for a better life...they are seeking for LIFE AT ALL. We all should be grateful for all we have - even if we have a little. Once we have something, it means we have much more than these guys do. I hope they all make their way through the jungle and have their hope renewed in a new country, in a new life! Good lucky, guys! God bless you all!!

Do you have to have "things" to have a life. For thousands of years in history, people had nothing and lived off the land or farmed. How did they survived all these years? America is wealthy, so what. We also have an drug problem. Americans are depressed. We have high divorce rate. Just because you have things does not mean you have a life at all.

Fernando Scotelaro : Do you know how much they pay for this trip ? The Indian Punjabis pay 20 - 25 lakh Indian Rupee minimum and I can bet most of them had house as well all the basic facilities back in India but they are all misguided and fascinated ( idk the exact reason why they are leaving but according to a recent interview of a Punjabi guy who is been deported from USA said to India Today magazine that he is being cheated by the trafficker, he doesn't know the route was tough and he sold his house and property to pay the agent and he thought he can earn good money like his fellow neighbour NRI Americans who is living in USA and thereby he can have a luxurious life.

These are the kind of people that come to the USA, and in about 5-10 years will own grocery stores, motels, and gas stations. After all the struggles they've been through in their lives, they are just happy to have a job that pays, some food, and a roof over their heads. They know what it means to live a hand-to-mouth existence, and appreciate the meaning of hard work.

Daniel y Ruby I’m Colombian but living in Los Angeles and the US for many years and planning on going back home. How did you end up going to Colombia? Are you Latin? It’s strange you don’t have reliable Internet or cell phone signal in Bogotá. I talk to my family in other smaller cities and they have pretty good service.
@danielyruby8696
@danielyruby8696 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian. No, I'm not Latin. How I ended up in Colombia.? Well, the economy in the US a number of years ago was horrible. I was in my mid 40s then and I decided to take a trip. I had a friend I met on line who lived in Bogota and she invited me to visit a few years ago. So I took a plane from Detroit to Bogota and once I arrived here I knew I had to stay. I found another woman here in Bogota that I am in the process of going into business with. The cell/internet service is much slower than in the US, but it is still better than it was on my first trip years ago. Overall no complaints though, Am I going back to Detroit? Not anytime soon,... Oh by the way, I live in barrio Bosa in the south.
@byrlink
@byrlink 6 жыл бұрын
Daniel y Ruby Interesting story. I’m 40 and came to the US when I was 22. It’s funny how now some people are going from here to Colombia to visit or retire there. Venezuelans are also migrating massively to Colombia. Until a few years ago, and for many decades, it was extremely difficult to find some foreigner daring to even visit Colombia. We also lived in Bogotá, in the 80’s, in Engativá, right next to the airport, when that area was still the countryside. Then moved and grew up in Armenia, Quindío. Isn’t the Bosa area kind of dangerous, like Detroit is right now?
@danielyruby8696
@danielyruby8696 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, thats the sterotype here is the south is dangerous...However, I got robbed at gunpoint and at knifepoint in Parque Nacional close to Chapenero last April. Crime is all over regardless of the neighborhood. I will say this, I have yet to see anything as violent as Detroit here. Nothing close to the burned out neighborhoods Detroit offers, nor the murders. Maybe Palmira, close to Cali has violence like Detroit. But getting a cedula here is almost impossible unless you have serious money. Even getting married here is not easy. The Notarias have clamped down hard and make up excuses why not to approve papers. The term Byzantine is very fitting here regarding government regulations. Ive overstayed my tourist visa twice in the past 4 years and had to pay a 550,000 pesos fine each time. Seems to me its cheaper and easier to pay the fine than to be legal here....

@@SemiSubconsciousSaboteur yes it absolutely does! America doesn’t discriminate against them because of their color! They are allowed to get any job they want go anywhere they went if they can’t work they are given benefits that’s not discrimination! There will always be people that don’t like each other of all races towards all races! That’s not America discriminating against them. In fact it’s the opposite they get special treatment if they are of certain colors.

I don’t think being our citizens that are jobless, hungry and homeless are feeling as if they are “ the richest poor people “. We have a lot of citizens who are in dire need and our government and fellow citizens turn a blind eye.

They should have stayed in Panama and Costa Rica there's plenty of opportunities in those countries. The U.S shouldn't be the only destination worth dying for

This documentary let me appreciate everything that I've, I'm so grateful to God for His MERCY, each day that He wakes me and my family up. I'll not take life for granted, I'll pray daily for all these people that are crossing through the Darien jungle seeking a better life; my heart was broken when I saw the hardship these people have to go through seeking a better way of life

Thank you. This is one of the better videos about the Darien Gap and I have watched a lot of them ! Those who are desperate follow the jungle route using guides, at a cost of course. The guides tend to avoid the paths the drug smugglers use, but are most likely to ask for more money half way through the trip. They also abandon those who get fairly close to the Panama border leaving them to go on alone, for obvious reasons. At the border most will be sent back.. or if they have tried to cross before, to prison. The Darien Gap IS dangerous and extremely challenging . There are some good posts like this one on YT. But there are others that have been hyped up..and really not honest. If you are really interested consider watching a few...and make your own mind up. Avoid the hyped up one showing a Skull on a stick lol...He makes out he could be going to his death (takes anti venom and never sees a snake and his wife gives him a peck on the cheek as he strolls away, as if he is going to the office....) its a joke. Anyway that's what YT is all about... other peoples opinions...including mine. lol. Enjoy.

Why keep heading north? They can easily make a really nice living in many countries in South America. Maybe those countries are not like the U.S., but they do offer way better opportunities and better quality of life than places like Iran among others countries like it.
