You know why there are some chinese people struggling so hard to made their way to the US? Because there are so many chinese people doing immigration agencies in the US. They are using the social medias to propaganda how easy to get a job in the US and how well paid salary of the job in US. But honestly, In fact, the majority of undocumented immigrants in the United States face significant challenges in terms of living standards, economic opportunities, and access to social services due to their lack of legal status.

This is true. A lot of places in the US hire migrants…but then pay the migrants below minimum wage. On paper, the migrants aren’t technically employees, so the employers can pay them pennies and don’t have to report anything for tax and legal purposes. This is very common in the construction industry. For many employers, migrants are a source of nearly-free labor, and it’s a part of the immigration crisis that nobody seems to be talking about-how the people who hire these migrants are complicit in the influx across the border. If there weren’t so many work opportunities, then nobody would come here.

The undocumented Chinese immigrants I know in the U.S. and Canada who came through smuggling are all like this-they’re either fleeing huge debts or are wanted by authorities, so they come here to avoid responsibility. As a lifelong American, I can say that we are facing the harsh reality of declining birth rates and it's migrants who are taking up the slack (think agriculture or even blue collar work like plumbing). People born in America are leaving those jobs in droves or would rather ride social net programs than work those positions. America needs migrants *but* it must be sustainable, if you have a ton of migrants lacking education/work skills then there's a high chance they will need social programs to survive. American social net programs are not funded to the level you see in Europe and parts of Asia so the result is people on the streets, people committing crimes to get money, housing issues, etc. So it requires a mixed approach - secure the border but also restructure our legal immigration system to be more efficient, transparent and provide migrants a path towards education and/or good paying employment (add ESL to this). I won't lie, I definitely prefer migrants who come with skills/education as it's a simple fact they can assimilate within American society more successfully, less likely to become violent/commit crimes, etc. This doesn't mean every low income, poorly educated migrant is violent and/or a criminal but the statistics are clear there is a difference. Migrants who commit crimes that's beyond a basic misdemeanor or traffic violation should be deported if they have not obtained citizenship. However, migrants willing to do the work of learning/building skills should get some level of assistance to continue to promote their prosperity and work ethic. At the end of the day, America is a global country - besides Native Americans/native Mexican families, we are all were migrants so I hold no animosity and wish people who come here with good intentions safe travels and prosperity in our country.

People need understand 3 facts (1) yes, Chinese Americans in general are richer and wealither than even white Americans, but (2) this because most of us have university, degrees and a quarter of us advanced graduate degrees. (3) if you have no real skills, just another pair of hands, then what's different between your hands than any other illegal immigrants from Mexico or South America? People, come to America legally, obtain specialized scientific knowledge, then yes you will achieve the American Dream regardless which country you are from. But if you come illegally and have no special talent or skills, then you will live just like any illegal immigrant.
Mexicans are actually NATIVE AMERICANS they deserve to be on these lands more than you or any other white asian or black person. Also Mexicans and other Latinos are WAY harder workers than Asians.

Yes, they are too sheltered and ignorant about what's happening in the world at home in China. Immigrants who go home for a visit, don't want to tell their own relatives and friends the truth for fear of looking bad and silly for leaving their homeland. Most have to convince themselves life is good in their new country to be happy.

Wei Du, please do a follow-up report on those Hong Kong folks going to UK on BNO only to get low status jobs.
@medusamoor606 ай бұрын
well this happened years ago. Remember those flew to Canada or US in the 80's or 90's? Many of them needed to work as blue collar workers even they were teachers or nurses or lawyers in HK. The difference is, people were more patience and understand the situation back then. They worked and studied hard to get a better life there. And they (or the 2ne generations) achieved that. Those HK people flew to UK after 2019 are just a bunch of naive people only have pride and don't want to "downgrade" themselves. It is so ironic that they have internet and can collect as much as info they can, they still being naive and think moving to UK without a long term plan can actually work out.

As far as I know, most of these people choose to go to the United States because they have a huge debt in China. The houses and cars of those who cannot repay the debt will be auctioned off by the court, and they cannot take high-speed trains or airplanes domestically, which leaves them with no choice but to come to the United States. Of course, this does not mean they are all bad people, but going to the United States to start over is indeed a great opportunity. Wishing them all the best.

I don’t understand why the government gave our hard working money to support illegal immigrants to be in the country while we still have many problems to solve. I’m so mad when the reporter asked why did he chose to illegally immigrate to the US but not other countries, the guy said “ because USA is the only country that will accept illegal immigrates.” Yes, we, legal residence, will have to pay all the cost that illegal immigrates cost us while there are many problems and legal residents who paid tax still need help. If you want to come, you are very welcome, but need to go through the legal process! Current situation is not acceptable!

I don't see any Venezuelans, Hondurans, Columbians, and I have never even seen a Haitian. In Japan, where I live, they are all over the Ginza buying expensive brand products. The crime in China is nowhere near what it is in some countries in South America, and the people I met while travelling around there seem to be doing quite well for the most part.
