Even if you have a criminal record, you should be able to protect yourself at all times. There is no 2 tier system in protection; apart from the obvious murders, dope dealers, abusers and repeat offenders. Some of the most salt of the earth men I know made 1 simple mistake in their youth and they are now in their late 40's, early 50's. I make sure they carry because they have every right to, so don't give me that "record" crap. Nowhere in the 2nd does it say "except those who have a record".

I'm from NYC and I joined the military.... I instantly realized what it meant to own a firearm... its safer for me to defend myself and my family then to wait for the nypd to save me... the police are an after action organization meaning that they usually show up AFTER the crime has already happened...and the victim already victimized... so I'd rather be able to shoot and stop the perpetrators in real time, rather than fight for my life in a hospital bed on life support waiting for nypd to search for the criminals who may never be found... its that simple

In the near future I think the law won't apply to anyone anyway. People will be carrying a concealed weapon regardless. That day is for each of us to determine our feeling of safety. Is it too dangerous to get a gallon of milk? Is it too dangerous to visit the doctors office? Is it too dangerous to go to work? These questions and various others will help you determine if you should carry a firearm regardless of carry laws, regardless of the law at all. Police can't be everywhere all the time. When police fail to protect and serve like they've been doing in recent months, then it's time to carry a firearm regardless.

Not sure what your rant is about? NY didn't restrict people from purchasing a firearm, it had special requirements for people to carry them on the street. Yes, an extra requirement, but it would seem to me that a law-abiding citizen who wants to carry a concealed weapon should spend a good day or two coming up with a reasonable and logical reason to justify carrying the weapon. Is your complaint, the having to take the time to think of a valid reason to carry a gun you desire to carry so badly?? Also, the 2A says the right to bear, basically own a firearm, it actually says nothing about walking around outside your property with one.

Criminals are criminals because they don't follow the rules and no one expects them too. If you find the solution that makes criminals care about the law then I'm sure you will be given honors and riches beyond your wildest dreams. The non criminal element should be held to a higher standard and should welcome the responsibilities along with the right to own weapons. There are a lot of non-criminal people out there that shouldn't own a firearm despite their "right" to be able too; for a number of reasons. Majority of offenders of mass shootings were not criminals before killing a bunch of people. Yet a few provisions, such as a two day wait, an age requirement, or mandatory use of a FFL for a private sell, may have given the individual a day, month, or year to rethink what was going on in their life and not commit the horrendous act. I'm not for the banning of military style guns or large cap mags, but I see nothing wrong with having to be 21 to buy one or waiting 2 days before taking it home. A sensible and responsible gun owner should want and insure that other like minded safe and responsible people are buying guns instead of nuts who do stupid and horrible things with them and shed more bad light on the gun community.

If you can afford a car to get around Manhattan, you’re pretty much ok. But if you don’t….like soooooooooo much of nyc, you’re just basically fucked. You have to walk or ride a bicycle… What was that song from Dead Kennedy’s? Kill the poor? I feel like that should be the state song…

@@kw2519 If they didn’t previously restrict licensed carriers in the subways, they cannot do it now after the Supreme Court decision. The court went way out of their way to try to tie up any loopholes that will be tried and specifically mentioned that they dare not try to make the “island of Manhattan“ a “sensitive area“. Anything they try can now be beaten in court because not only is it backed up by the second amendment but directly by the Supreme Court decision. They will lose pretty much all challenges except licensing.

This is the best reporting on the situation if seen so far. It clearly shows why the Supreme Court struck this law down. All the other media sources are so biased to one side of the other that they aren’t explaining the facts behind the decision. I’m glad I finally found a video I can show my fellow New Yorkers that are confused about why this was struck down. Bravo!
