I've had birds all of my life. Fantastic story. The pigeon in the house reminds me of a dove I rescued from someone's garage. The found her, probably from a celebration release, and she live in a cage. When I found out about her, I talked them into giving her to me, and she became a family member for many years. The birds had daily freedom in the house and really enjoyed life. They are like a dog with wings. They understand routine and treats. Such a great story.

Thank you to the fashion photography who was so loving to his adopted pigeon....he saw that she was not doing good when she went back into the wildlife facility, and he took her home 💙💙💙 Pigeons are one of the ten top smartest animals in the world, for the reasons they named on this video. They do remember faces and look at all the messages they flew back and forth during wars...they are amazing birds. Humans sometimes have a very hard time recognizing any other species except for themselves, and we miss out because we are not that open minded.

I live in Great Falls, Montana and rescued and injured pigeon from a downtown sidewalk 10 years ago. Her name is " Baby" and she is one of the family, even rules the roost with the dogs and cat she shares the house and yard with. I am the apple of her eye and she wants to be near me always , even snuggles and coos for affection. About once a month she climbs to a high cabinet and on top of it she has made a nest with straight dry spaghetti sticks and lays 2 eggs that she sits on 23 hours a day for 2 weeks , then discovers they don't hatch ( sterile eggs of course ) and then pesters me because of this. I remove them , we " honeymoon " around with snuggles and cuddles and the process repeats. For a while I kept the eggs and there was many dozens. I love and care for Baby the same as an established member of the family. I guess love cannot be quantified. Love is love no matter who it is between.

I admire pigeons when I see them...but NOT at our rural property. They invaded a nearby property's unused barn and when they overpopulated there they came to invade at our place too. The barn, outbuildings, everywhere. They could wedge into the smallest cracks to gain access and nest in storage areas. They destroyed stored boxes, hay, left huge amounts of poop. We first tried putting up chicken wire to block access, also making noise and banging around with broom, etc. to flush them out repeatedly. Not much effect, they are smart indeed. It took a year or more of almost daily morning shotgun work to lower their numbers and finally convince them that ours was not a good place to call home.
