And I might throw in here, I've only had rescues, who most often actually found me, for the last forty years. My route is taking dogs whose owners have died. That means I've gotten two pure breeds and what I'll say about that is no matter what, when an owner dies, there is seldom anybody who has room for another and they can wind up in shelters and killed ultimately. I can't let that happen.

I foster dogs and cats. They love us, but they love their permanent family, too. I've seen them once they're in their forever homes and they are well-adjusted, happy individuals. I might be depressed and sad, but then I have someone new who needs to be fostered. If I adopted each one I've had a very special bond with, I wouldn't be able to foster anymore and more pets would be euthanized.

It's one of the most painful things I've ever seen and I've seen it too many times to even count. 😢

Exactly!! Written by someone who gets it! I fostered for years. It was hard to give them up but I knew if I didn't I couldn't help the next one. Fosters are far and few between. If anyone shames someone who fosters but doesn't adopt, perhaps they should try it and see what is harder: fostering and giving them up or fostering then adopting when adopting means you won't be fostering any more and you can just love on your new pet. What is easier: loving on your pet or taking new fosters that potentially will have physical problems and perhaps abuse-related behavior problems; animals that you WILL get attached to knowing that, in order to help the next one, you will have to give this one up? Anyone who shames someone who fosters but doesn't adopt is simply wrong to do so.

I know from the owners, Bull Terriers are not for a novice owner. You have to understand and be prepared for what you are taking on and that is true of every dog. A dog is a living being and requires an owner that can provide care, good food, medical treatment, grooming and a loving safe home for at least 12-15 years. Not everyone is cut out to be a dog owner either at all or at certain times in their lives and everyone needs to realize this before they get a dog or give a dog to someone else. Trooper is very lucky to have David and his foster mom in his life now.

@@worldgonemad1977 I had 5 Corgis from 1988-2021, both types before their popularity surge of the past few years. Used to get asked a lot of questions and I answered truthfully about the day to day life with a Corgi, pros and cons. Very stubborn attitude, very loud barking, extreme shedding, herding/ankle nipping especially small kids, (dont recommend with kids under 10 or teasing people they will defend themselves), easy weight gain, back issues, poor swimmers also they can be easy to train and intelligent, very alert, medium size, a good pet for those that have the time, money and dedication, they live 12-15 years. Their present popularity now is beginning to wane, likely because these cons have been ignored because the owners did little research.
