@Amber one of his worries about the way he speaks was that he would be cast in stereotypical roles like a latino gang member and he said he had some offers like that but he turned them down. Unfortunately Hollywood still typecasts us minorities.

Anthony Ramos he is a down to earth person. He is a very humble guy I meet him at the beach a couple of weeks ago in Bklyn. No one spotted him out except for me my friend was like who's that..lol.. I said really you don't know who he is well he called him over and I said ain't you guy from Hamilton he said yes Anthony Ramos...lol..I told my friend you see that was him..We took a pic he was calling my name like he knew me for years. He was on Jetski at that beach with his friends. A wonderful friendly guy! I hope he stays humble I hope Hollywood doesn't change him. The funny thing too my daughter went to school with his fiance Jasmine very nice girl as well a actress herself and she use to spend nights at my house when they were in JHS. I told him that too.. he was like Word!!! Lol.. what a small world!! He will DEFINITELY go far with his personality!!!!

Many Yankee fans actually at Yankee games used to tell me to watch In the Heights and I was like “I only saw the musical on Broadway years ago.” They told me the movie was just as good as the musical on Broadway. As soon as I watched the movie I became hooked not only on Usnavi but Ramos himself. Like I’m from Jersey but NY is like my second home and he brought that out completely. ❤ He’s so talented ❤

Yeah well Lin has said that Nina is the character that he relates to the most. And I think the interviewer figured that Anthony would relate to the character too because she went to an elite school and was supposed to do better than everyone else in her neighborhood. Who knows Anthony might’ve brought that up and then it was edited out 🤷🏽‍♀️

I saw it last night (Saturday) in a nearly deserted theater. About 12 people in a 150 seat theater. I recommend it. And I very rarely go to movie theaters. (Too many movies. Too much manufactured hype). It will get lots of Oscar nominations. Great storylines (plural), acting, singing, dancing, visuals, representations of different Latin cultures (plural). Meaning the naming of Latina cultural/political heroines. The different foods from different countries on the stove. My big problem was the length and the lack of dark skinned Latinos/Latinas. I'm not Latino but I DO KNOW that this aspect of the film was NOT accurate. Frankly, at a certain point all the light skinned Latinos/Latinas and no dark skinned folks as Leads (but for one) just seemed really weird. And irritating and insulting.
