I heard a story once that Jamie Lee was exiting a parking garage and the gate came down on her car. The employee was so worried because he knew who she was. He said Jamie got out of her car and apologized up and down saying it was probably her fault (it wasn’t), didn’t complain about car damage, etc.. She was gracious, kind and didn’t sweat it at all.

When I met her I had an idea of what I was ready to say. I got in front of the autograph line for one of her childrens books and then said, “Jamie, thank you so much for being Nicholas’s mom in his story. I felt the pain and loss when you played the mom bc I was a bereaved parent to a organ donor.” She put the pen down and paused before signing and told me to tell her more. I told her I met Nicholas’s parents and what my experience was with them and how much it meant to me right after I lost my child. I told her I even met her mom once and she is or was a sweet lady. You could tell Jamie was one of those nice normal moms and then I knew acting is just not the real person but for you to experience a life lesson. That’s her purpose and she has a big heart. ❤
