Brooklyn-based novelist Hernan Diaz won this year's Pulitzer Prize for his bestseller "Trust," a kaleidoscopic look at the world of the stratospherically rich. He talks with correspondent Martha Teichner about how his childhood in Argentina and Sweden informed his perspective on American life and history; his love of the English language; the influence of Edith Wharton on his writing; and the miracle of validation that came after years of writing without recognition.

Reading this novel, I am reading about Rask and his very ill wife who succumbs to her illness, now we have new characters. Sorry I find this dry and now 1/2 way through this I am still waiting for a story. Where is it?

When I first picked this book up -I thought it sounded commercial -an investor who specializes in cigars, Cuban cigarillos, then J.C Wintworth Company. The marriage of Benjamin Rask with his ailing wife, here is where my whole attention was glued to this book. With Mildred, Edward, Ida P then the ghost writer who is typing the memoirs.
