On Thanksgiving Day Kirk, Moses and I took a trip down to Long Beach in search of their new New Way Sidewinders they had recently purchased. However, while we were down there I was hoping they would be running extra in an effort to finish up early for the holiday, meaning we might run into one of their notoriously hard-to-find older CCC McNeilus rear loaders. Not only did we see one, but between the three of us we ended up seeing four. This included one of the even rarer tandem axle 20-yarders (as opposed to the single axle 17-yarders). They had an insane amount of trucks running, and in fact there was one small neighborhood we passed through that had a truck in every single alley... lol. Anyways, Kirk and I focused mostly on truck 13717 as it was older and the 20-yard body. I must say, these aren't trucks I'd normally think I'd like, but after following them for a few hours that morning I came to really like them. Fast, easy to operate, and nice compaction. Long Beach seems to have a smooth operation going.
