Cci Quiet Ammo test part 2 - quiet semi auto in part 1 of this ammo test we had a look at cci quiet 22 and it didn’t seem to fit the bill as a good enough quiet target ammunition when fired from my bolt action CZ 457 LRP. I’m looking to find a quiet ammo that I can fire on my private range while not requiring hearing protection. Although the cci quiet 22 was very quiet and checked that box it just wasn’t what I was looking for. Will the quiet semi-auto 22 do better with approximately 120 fps extra velocity and will it still be quiet enough to shoot it without ear pro? Let’s find out!

Quiet vs Quiet semi-auto is only ~100 fps difference which means a tiny but more powder which mean a tiny bit more sound

hmm interesting results, i feel like they would be a pretty damn accurate round if they were just a bit more consistent, coz the ones that flew straight flew really straight, and then you just got random flyers every 4th shot or something ya know? probably not an issue for their already quite niche "22lr semi auto hunting quietly" market, so i doubt we would ever see them make any match grade equivalents of anything like this, maybe you could try sorting them but yer... good luck have fun with that. also, i have heard that that wax coating takes a while (like prob 50-100 shots) before it gives the barrel an even coating, so not switching between dry and waxy stuff very often may help. thanks for the vid bro.

I didn’t know that about the wax lube. Good to know! Maybe if I’m bored someday I might try sorting but I haven’t had the time with the good stuff so probably won’t happen lol. Glad you enjoyed the video!

I love it in the semi auto plinkers I have and I will use it the odd time in my bolt guns when noise is an issue

thanks for the video, is it that quiet that you don't need to wear ear protection? how long is the barrel on your rifle? thanks.

The ibi barrel is 22” and the factory MTR barrel is 20”. And I shoot it all the time without ear pro and it’s about the same as an air gun

How often do you clean this rifle? Ammo often start to perform better near the end with a seasonned bore...cleaning it sounds like a good idea to protect the barrel... but a bad move for an opportunist hunter ?! basically, do you clean it each time you shoot it?

I haven’t cleaned it since the thing came home new. The bore that is. My marlin has probably 50000 down the tube haven’t touched it either. I used to clean them every outing but almost seemed like the zero was off and flyers everywhere so not I don’t touch the bore and it’s on every time

I hate telling people because a lot of people swear by cleaning and over cleaning but I’ve had the best luck and I know where my first round is going every time

Ya there are much better options out there but would be nice to have something quiet since suppressed is not an option here in Canada

Almost not an option here either...takes about a year to get the paper work thru and at 76 I ain't taking any chances lol
