CCM Tacks AS-V Skate Review

Just bought a pair and had them remade into bandy skates and so far I’m absolutely LOVING them! Had the tendon guard and toungue cut off and also switched to bandy blades. It was amazing to see that the blades fit right into the skate blade housing. I assumed I would have to change the entire housing so that was sure a pleasant surprise! They are miles better when compared to the pre made bandy skates on the market. The different width options of the boot allowed me to have my first skate in years with little to no foot pain. Got these yesterday and did Stick & Puck this morning. The straight-line speed and control are unbelievable. My outside edge stops are INSANE.

@@ice.warehousehey Brandon, you bet! Baked and punched out the naviculars. Comfort is king 👌🏼👑 I will miss the donut-like ankle pads on the Ribcors, but Tacks will always be my favourite skates. 🙌🏼

Did they increase the volume on the wide fit? I have a 7ee in tacks and I have to go super loose with lacing or I get a lot of foot pain.

They will be wider than your standard Tacks EE, so it might just be a great fit! Chase at IW Hockey

CCM AS-V or Bauer M5 pro. What would you recommend?

Dang, that is such a tough call but I might have to give the AS-V the slight advantage with the one-piece boot. They are both incredible skates for the money and you can't go wrong either way! Chase at IW Hockey

Is there any differences between junior and intermediate? Like skate construction/materials?

Alisha- I used to have CCM super tacks back in the day and i am coming back to the game. I need wide skates so i just got the Bauer M4s for the Fit 3. Not quite M5 Pros but.... the Bauers just didnt do it for me. Going tomorrow to pick me up some CCM AS-Vs!! lol! Going back to the good old CCMs!! What did you end up going with???

@@juliegatesman9501 I didn't buy any skates this year. Gonna wait for the new jetspeed ft6 pro skates to come out. CCM is finally offering a Jetspeed top of the line skate in Jr sizing (I have small feet). Hope the AS-V work out for you.

I'd have to say the AS-V's! The Hzrdus 9X are still a great choice but given the AS-V's have a better quick-release holder, better steel, and are on clearance, that would be my choice. Brandon at IW Hockey
