Best information! I had this problem with my 75/25 Wheels on my Turbine Freewing Mig-29. After removing the magnets now the brakes work proportional 🤗👍 Thank you!

Excellent. I've been following advise of using Jig-a-loo lubricant and all kinds of other nonsense. This actually makes more sense and is very easy to do.

You know if you the take tires off of Free Wing plane they will slide right on those and with a dab of E6000 lock on rims provided your using same size tire you can save like 3 0z.of wgt

How do you actually remove the tire from the rim? FW-T-33

Hi, I have kind of the opposite problem where my brakes stick because the magnets are not strong enough to pull the floating disc back off the brake magnet. Any ideas ti fix that? I have cleaned and also removed the shims per JP’s advice, but same problem.

I have not had that problem. Check to make absolutely sure you don’t have a little bit of brake power applied when you think the brakes are switched off. This is really easy to accidentally do if you are using a mix to activate your brakes. Another thing to check is see if your brake discs have become magnetized, if so, try changing out the discs. I’m confused by JPs advice to remove the shims, doing so will make the problem worse because the magnet casing will rub the bearing causing the wheel to lock up in spots.

@@tipper22v that’s what I thought. It didn’t make sense to me either, but I tried and the brakes still stick. I definitely don’t have any power applied when braking off. They even stick when the plane is off completely. I’ll check to see if the discs became magnetized. JP also told me to use their controller. That their controller had a function which releases the brakes. They are the only ones who have this he said. I don’t believe it. The only way I get mine to release completely is to take a magnet to the outside of the wheel to pull the disc back off the brake magnet, which is what the little magnets in the wheel are meant to do.

How did you ever come up with this solution ??

I cannot take credit for the idea, read about somewhere online a few years back.

You certainly made a poor product into a very useful and practical one !! Thanks for your posting ! @@tipper22v

How do the axles attach to the landing gear? Can I attach them to standard bent aluminum LG?
@tipper22v Жыл бұрын
You can mount them to bent Aluminum LG using a 5mm bolt as an axle but you have to put the 5mm both through the Aluminum LG from the inside, then use a nut to mount the 5mm axle to the AL LG, the nut must be grinded to 10mm width so the wheel brake goes around it and prevents the magnet from rotating when brakes are applied. Use a lock nut on the outside of the wheel to keep it on.

@@tipper22v Oh, ok! I thought you had to find an adapter of some sort. Thanks! I found a set for $80 that I want to try on my Ultra Stick. It tends to come in a bit hot, lol.

Adapter will work too, if you can find one. I don’t know of any that are commercially available.

@@tipper22v I like your original take. I have plenty of hardware available, so using your direction I'm sure I'll make it work, thanks again!
