License Plate Capture with IR Night Vision LPR Camera

Does this camera, through the NVR, provide a RSTP stream that I can access? This camera system is currently on top of my list. My environment is a little out of recommended configuration, with a T-intersection and my mounting position is about 30 degrees and 70ft from the intersection that needs to be monitored.

Really fantastic video. Well executed and presented. If I had it to do over, I would purchase a system from your company. A few years ago I invested in a Dahua system. All POe expensive cameras. I struggle to clearly pick up license plates at night. My home is about 400 feet from the road, so I ran an underground conduit to a tree about 85 feet from the road, and at an angle. It’s pitch black at night around here. Even with everything tweaked (blc, hlc, framerate, shutter speed, iris adjustment etc) on my $400 camera, I still can’t manually read the plates all the time. Your setup is fantastic.great video.

Mike, thank you for making this video. I personally feel like the license plate capture is so clear that the automatic recognition must be so close to working!! I wonder if you adjusted the camera, or shimmed the bottom of the camera away from the wall, if that would help. The goal would be to adjust the camera so that license plates appear perfectly level/flat in the field of view. That may be all that's missing for the recognition to fully take over and be more reliable.

The Viewtron LPR-IP4 camera installed at my house in this video is focused 20-30 feet further than that max recommended LPR distance of 90 feet. I am thrilled that we are still able to perform license plate capture recordings even without the ALPR software working at this distance, 110 to 130 feet away. During the day you can still read license plates like 150-160 feet away in some cases. Honestly, I am not sure if the ALPR software will ever work at that distance unless we launch a camera with a larger lens than 32mm. Thank you for all the feedback. I really appreciate it. Reading your reply again, I realized that I did not address your recommendation of getting rid of any tilt on the camera view so the plate is more level. I will try, but I do think that the distance, vertical, and horizontal angles are the issues.

Just purchased the most expensive ALPR system from you for almost $1600 and I am having the hardest time getting clear plates at night if at all its mounted around 5ft above road level. Aprx 15-20ft from the road. I have tried a 10 degree angle all the way up to 60 degrees. It was capturing decently in the day time. I need help asap. Thank you.

Hi Kurt, Sorry to hear that you are having trouble. 5ft high is great, however 60 degrees is too much of an angle for the ALPR software. You *may* be able to still record plates clearly at that extreme angle (license plate capture), but that angle is way too great for automatic license plate recognition (ALPR). Viewtron LPR cameras are ONVIF compliant, so they will work with any ONVIF compliant NVR for license plate capture. However, the AI software for automatic license plate recognition and the license plate database functions are not ONVIF functions. Hello, need a camera that can read plates at night, to monitor dumpsters. There are lights on at night near the dumpsters, so it is not dark in that area. Have RING for my home, but they are not good for distance and plates or details. Would love your recommendation. I have photos to share of what it looks like from future camera location.
