With rockstar it is especially tragic because the Housers had such an eye for detail and if you look at interviews of Lazslo or others you really get to know how meticulous they liked to be with everything and they treated people right. When in the credits it says that Dan and Sam wrote everything, it's not kidding at all. Dan's the man actually writing nearly every single piece of dialogue. Sure, the plots aren't mind blowing but the content and dialogues are so realistic and movie like. Actual mannerisms, unsanitised.

I think Warhorse likely got some CDPR people but not many. People from Poland could join Blank or Rebel Wolf or go for better paying remote jobs in Germany or France. If you look into CDPR a lot of talent left after the Witcher 3 due to bad working conditions and they promised to change. Some that stayed and were working on the preproduction of Cyberpunk left after something happened in 2015. Then a bunch of people left around the time Cyberpunk launched. The actual talent has long been gone.

Low rotation my ass xD I'm from Poland, have good friends who worked in CDPR, I even wanted to work there myself (thank god that didn't happen). They hired people as testers for the LOWEST POSSIBLE WAGE. There was a joke in the industry that "you go to CDPR for resume, not for money". Core team experienced huuuuuge crunch and a lot of those guys left. CDPR is toxic workplace, FOR EVERYONE. Yeah, they released one of the best games ever, but still... this is brutal.

I think Asmongold best explained what happens with DEI insertions in games. The moment someone in the company wants to push for inserting LGBTQ content into a game; people feel afraid to tell them "no" regardless of how overt or destructive that insertion may be to the product, because they know that someone is gonna get their feelings hurt and label them as "phobic". So as Asmon put it: "Anyone can push it, but no one can stop it." That's why many devs choose to either jump ship, seek employment elsewhere, or in this case, some broke off together and formed a new partnership with fellow devs that they trust.

I am a student in Poland whose college is tightly knit with CDPR. CDPR is running a program called "Girls in the Game" (Dziewczyny w Grze) which focuses specifically on mentorship programs for women on the merit of being a woman alone. I have access to that group as a student, and I can tell you that even then the women to gain a CDPR mentorship aren't chosen basing on skill, it feels more like a raffle.

To put this in perspective with the older game industry, the original xenosaga barely sold 3 million before the deadline for sequel approvals. It had a fraction of the budget of these new games, and sold literally 1000x in some cases. This game was also actively fought against by religious groups and American subsidiaries of the publishing company
