I'm going to say this as a female gamer who grew up in the 90s/20s when there was a lot less female characters to play and 90% of main characters were male. SUCK IT UP!!!! As a woman, sure I prefer to play as female characters most times (Fuck Peach, I'm playing Yoshi!) but if I wanna play Doctor Stranger, I'm going to play as the canon Doctor Stranger. Him being male doesn't stop me from connecting with the character. You are playing this character, and a part of that character is his masculinity. The pure fact that people can't connect to a character because of gender or race is mind boggling! It may be a fictional character, but go past the surface level and connect to their personality, values, experiences or even just their skill set in the game. If you like a well made character enough, you will play that character despite their gender. If not, go play something else.

Rogue, Kitty Pryde, and X-23 are character I really really wanna see. I’m a Magik main so if X-23 plays more like Magik in the sense of flanking backlines than Wolverine then I’d love her. As a gamedev, I can answer that the damage-rate thing is *not* a technical limitation of online multiplayer, but a problem with Marvel Rivals itself. Its quite easy to put a process (such as bullet spawning) on a thread that's not tied to framerate. Same with movement. You can put the animation on one thread and the reading the player input on another thread. High framerate players _will always have an advantage_ though. Since they can theoretically react sooner since something will appear on their screen maybe a tenth (or more) of a second sooner than a low framerate player, and their input-read-rate should also be higher (meaning that the game will react faster to their controls). However, you CAN mitigate some of that advantage by properly threading (or more like "scheduling") input reads and bullet spawning and stuff.

Calling it "Pay to win" because a better machine has an advantage isn't really sensible. First off, playing ANY game at a higher framerate will give you an advantage, just the nature of games, if it is more responsive you will do better. You can say the same thing about getting some ergonomic gamer mouse, or a keyboard that fits well in your hand. Second, the whole idea around pay-to-win is the idea that the game itself is offering you monetization options to increase your power. Marvel Rivals doesn't make any money off of whether you buy a more powerful machine or not. That's nonsense. Obviously they should try and fix the issue so that it's balanced across all framerates, but saying it is pay to win is crazy

And one of the best ways to fix that is to remove the specs of personal machines from the equation. Make it so any game only operates on the slowest/lowest possible setting therefore making it fair across the board. Eliminating the differential that is caused from having newer faster machines. Any game should only be as good as its weakest link (personal computer specs.)

The biggest problem I see with forcing 2 genders on each character would be that it would limit what new heroes can come out. As an example of this, I am going to use spiderman. If they were to add a skin to spiderman to convert him to the female character Spider-Gwen, then they wouldn't be able to add spider Gwen as a future character with a similar but different ability set. The same goes for the hulk and she hulk, Wolverine and the girl from Logan, and Deadpool and Gwenpool.

Genderbent characters don't work in hero shooters simply because you want characters to be easily identifiable on who is who. Clarity of characters means design wise they need to also look like their class for example Vanguards are big and beefy full of muscle or fat that takes a huge chunk of space. While supports tend to be smaller also the characters silhouette will change drastically if they changed genders.

This sounds more like any Banked Kills game mode, where dead enemies drop points and you get more for holding a lot, but if you die before you bank then at home base you give them away to the enemy team. Capture the flag would also be a great game mode.

As skins it would be pretty fun to give every character their similar gender swapped character. But they have to do it for both male and female. X-23 is a fun swap for wolverine, but I would expect someone like Scarlet Witch to get WIccan or something. The main issue is that it alters the silhouette too much for a hero shooter's readability. Means that the player has to guess too much at what character is coming up on them.

Well, to be fair, Overwatch is only so easily killable now because they really didn't listen to their fans and pandered to the mythical "modern audience" instead. Rivals is like a good MMA fighter but the only reason it won against Overwatch was the opponent's hubris and self injury. Could Rivals have won, without all of this working in their favor? Maybe, maybe not, but it would have been a harder fight for them if this wasn't the case. There's no denying that. I like the idea of a single flag capture the flag, where the one with the flag is buffed or something as just a cool bonus of flare to add to the game mode. Make the one with the flag harder to kill but maybe also make their use of the flag to get a point a bit harder of a condition than simply reach the other side of the map. The more unique the spin on such old school game modes, the better your game stands out for it. yeah, get all 3 and the glove, 4 items total and you win but if you have a couple then you're rewarded and the other team is rewarded more for killing you.

I have no problem with an industry dominated by the chinese, as long as censorship is not a thing as prevalent with their games, like a version exclusively for them and stuff, like how it works with most of their games nowadays, also they don't allow skeletons, which is funny. Aside from that, I couldn't care less if games become less westernized, we wouldn't be losing anything of value. At this point, what is left to lose anyways... I honestly was onboard with the idea of gender bending characters. But demanding????? Nah I’ll skip on that. If it makes sense or exists in a comic/established alternate timeline, then having a gender swapped skin is fine (think shuri as black panther, or the version of captain America in the “What If” show. On the topic of frames per second affecting Marvel Rivals' hero damage/distance, the problem is that they're calculating values by frame instead of by fixed frame or time taken between frames. It should be relatively simple to fix, but there's a lot to fix and one needs to decide on which version was intended.

On the gender swapped subject: In general Gender swapping is a shallow niche ideal that holds no merits to it... BUT Marvel is a universe that has entirely bought into the multiverse system. This obviously expands past the gender swap with each variant iteration. Ultimate i think there's a solution that satisfies both parties as it's loyal to lore yet provides variety...skins. The big issue with multiverse is 90% of characters have minimal differences which makes a new character in rivals pointless, but by making them a skin with unique voice lines you can eliminate the pool of characters to sufficient differences. Example: Spiderman (peter parker) has many suit variants throughout his multiple depictions in media especially with existence of the multiverse (venom suit, iron spider, ect). But we also see variations in people with Scarlet spider (Ben Reilly) who is a unique character but is so similar that he is reduced to a skin, and following that thought we also get Ghost spider (Gwen Stacy) & Miles morales. Some will argue that there is sufficient differences, but the level of differences we need is Peter to Peni. Peni doesn't share any of the common abilities the others do, but instead has entirely new set of circumstances that she enhances as seen with her symbiotic relationship to a spider to control a mech. Bottomline is technically yes we can have gender swaps, but they should connect them to comics as much as possible and use it to add more unique figures like ghost spider rather than "peter with tits".
