Plant care 101 Brown edges on the leaves don't mean necessarily the plant is dying, don't worry :D Sometimes when a plant is by a window the leaves kinda burn from the sun. Some plants just don't like too much direct sunlight. Also make sure not to overwater them - you can water plants too much and they just rot and get moldy. Before watering, just feel their soil and look if there is any water in the plant pot! A plant that's pretty beginner friendly is Pothos, it's very common and cheap, and doesn't require much care :D Edit: Also I forgot to add that, but once in a while you should fertilize your plants, how often depends on the kind of fertilizer you use. And remove brown/yellow leaves since they take away nutrients from ther other still healthy leaves. Also most green plants enjoy a shower once in a while! You can either use a spray bottle to spray their leaves or take them to your shower. This also gets rid of dust on the leaves, since dusty leaves don't make for a happy plant c:

DON'T OVER WATER YOUR PLANTS. They bounce back better from being underwatered than overwatered. Brown leaves or leaf tips can be a sign of overwatering (as well as underwatering). Check the dirt. Better to wait until it is almost crumbling and not sticking to your finger to water than have it be super damp and drowning your plant. Hope this helps! Cheers, - Florist

Plant tips for Connor: Your plants aren't dying. The edges are likely turning brown as a reaction to a new environment and I suggest for the ones I saw as they appear more tropical to water once a week. Wait 30 secs in between filling the water to the brim of the pot as it needs time to soak into the soil and that'll help avoid drowning the plants as yes plants can drown. In fact, the number one issue I saw with customers plants when I've worked at plant nurseries is they'd overwater them. Just make sure the plants are receiving proper light and maybe in a month or two consider fertilizing them for the first time with indoor plant food. You're doing great and OHH try for your own sanity getting all your plants on the same watering day schedule because that's probably the easiest peace of mind thing you can do.

Connor san, your plants look stunning! If i may offer a little advice: A little browning at the leaf tips can occur in some species due to using tap water. This can be resolved by using filtered or distilled water. It's more of an aesthetic issue than anything. The browning at the tips could also be an indication of low indoor humidity (common in the winter). Again, some plant species are more sensitive to humidity than others. Most plants are plenty happy at humidity levels at or above 50% indoors. The frequency of watering depends on things like: how much light the plant receives, soil texture, etc. As a general rule of green thumb, just feel the soil about halfway down the pot if possible and if it's dry then water it until water runs out of the drainage holes. Also, drainage is really important, most plants like drainage and can get root rot if they're standing around in water. Also, most plant prefer to be a little underwatered than overwatered indoors. I usually go 7-12 days between watering for my houseplants depending on the species. Please don't ever stop your plant daddy journey!! Yes, you may likely kill a few plants before you stop killing plants. But it's all part of a very lovely and satisfying process of observation and experimentation. Plants can teach you many things if you listen to them. I'm looking forward to your channel becoming a dirty plant weirdo channel in the future. :3 Hope you are well.

For your plant, make sure there's a hole/holds at the bottom for drainage or the plant will most likely die from root rotting. For the first plant you showed, you definitely should check into repotting it -- I didn't see drainage holes. For the dead foliage, rip it out. Ripping out dead leaves let's your plant redirect its energy into the more alive foliage and ro new sproutings. 🥰 If you forget to water a lot, then get succulents or cacti! These plants prefer very very few watering sessions (I water mine every 2-4 weeks), and will not die if you forget to water them. They will die if you water then too often. And don't worry about browning tips on plants with big foliage-- that's a common occurrence. 😂

The rent will probably be around 4000-5000 dollars a month or even more depending on the location. Which I don't think is cheap.

The fact that you're not watering the plants daily may be what's keeping them alive. It's a common misconception. You should probably look up how often to water each type of plant, though you usually want to wait until the soil it's in is dry.

Browning on leaves is usually a sign of over watering. There's like a probe thing you can get to check the soil, but you can also just jam a finger in the soil and feel if the top half inch is dry. The office looks awesome, so bright and colorful!

Plant Tip for you, Connor!: You don’t have to water the plants EVERY day. If you do water them every day, they CAN die from overwatering and root rot. Give them some time to absorb and relax and then water them! About a week depending on what kind of plant you have/if the soil/rocks around the plant base is super loose and dry. Looks like you have a dumb cane (the small boi) a draceana (or palm idk) and a philodendron so they’re pretty resilient without a week of water. Also if you want a plant that is super self sufficient and doesn’t need too much, get yourself a pothos. You can hang em, put em on a shelf and let them grow long. They’re easy and super green! Hope that helps! Really sick studio/apartment!

If you put this fluff material in your room does it also prevent the sound from the outside coming into your room? Might be a stupid question, but I know nothing about soundproofing and I would desperately need sth like that in ym life right now...

It absolutely does! I had to soundproof my walls because of some trouble from a couple neighbors and I've never worked more peacefully. It might be better if the source of the noise were to soundproof themselves, but obviously that's not always an option and the opposite is still effective.

I know it's basic but I really want a succulent. Back when I worked the garden department at Walmart, a little succulent plant was abandoned by my register. It was called a California Sunset and the guy that put the plants and fertilizer up didn't get the little thing until days later. So, I let my plant keep me company as it could get very boring back there (and often, my managers flat out forgot about me, meaning my lunches were late and even sometimes clocking out...). I was sad when the succulent was finally either put back or purchased but hopefully it goes to a good home. I didn't buy it because I wanted it for my bedroom but the bedroom I was in at the time had a mold problem that already was keeping me sick. The plant likely would've died in there.

the brown ends on the either mean: You over watered It's getting damaged by AC and is drying out because of it (try moving it away from the vents lol amogus) Anyway best thing is to water that bad boy once every week, check that the plate under it doesnt have too much water or too little. One way to check is either buy a humidty stick or put your finger in the soil to see if its dry or moist. Dry will die of thirst, too much water will cause root rot which is VERY hard to salvage Your other plant (the smaller one) seems fine, it seems to be changing leaves and is dropping an old/dying one Succulents are easy but you can kill them with water too, so be careful Hope this helps, congrats on being a plant dad!

My plant is an undying king - it has no light, is covered in dust and I hardly ever water it (because I forget). But it's been with me for a couple of years now. Somehow... I used to water it when it's leaves dropped down (they normally point up). So basically when it looks like it's dying. Somehow it gets back up, which I am glad for. I'm a terrible plant owner/caretaker, that's why I never buy plants (I don't understand why ppl give me plants...) But thank you for the information. Now I probably know why the ends of the leaves turn brown. 0-0 I should go water it now... And maybe thank it for not giving up on itself...

@@Alice00001 chivalry basics: girls get plants to show how pretty they are. And if you have 3 you will get more since you show interest in gardening(unless stated otherwise in big letters above garden), but I'm just guessing,(and the "(wheat)flour( or egg) in diapers"(maternal instinct) test, if they give you a live plant(or animal) and have back stage motives, if you know what i mean (this sounds wrong, but unfortunately i can't do it better)).

Thank you for this comment. My plants have survived another dry winter. (Also, I have a suspicion Connor bought the same plants from Amazon I did. They died shortly after arrival. I think shipping a 36” palm a few thousand miles is probably bad for the plant in hindsight.)
