You could remove the closet doors and have it as a "walk in" shelfing area. It would help connect the gym area too, could store some of the gym stuff in the closet. Get some bands or different lifting accessories hanging. Also would allow you to put the gym mats down without the door

You’re right, eggshell foam does basically nothing. It dampens some of the high range frequencies, but leaves the rest of the them to go wild. Most bedrooms have low/mid range issues and getting rid of the high end just makes them more pronounced. If you get what they call “full broadband” acoustic treatment you can get a somewhat tamed room. you’re right again a broadcast microphone like the EV mic you’re using has great ambient rejection and as long as it’s close to your mouth you won’t hear much of the room as shown in this video.

The taste on every single part of the room is amazing, it really reflects your personality. With the doors I had a similar issue with the space on the closets in my house so I change them for sliding doors, I believe that could also help you with the space and maybe if you use sliding doors with a japanese style this might help to the aesthetic of the room too.

I like this setup. It's clean and sleek, and allows flexibility for future upgrades. You could do more for the room using some strategically placed artworks than using sound-proofing, and there is amazing art in Japan that would complement the room.
