Another K280UB this time with Volgren CR228L and its got a a additional Metrobus livery which is nice, I'm looking forward for the next generation buses

The instrument cluster is different from the K310UB and K280UB Custom Coaches CB60 EVO II. But I am very surprised how they replaced the older Motorola with the newer Motorola on all of the Volgren CR228L and some of the newer bus that currently had the older ones. At the moment I seen all the Mobitec ICU 400 has been replaced with some 402 but now all had 403.

These vehicles are very nice sounding but I've noticed that they have very loud fans which can make them very noisy from the outside. From what I've heard some Euro III Volvo B12BLEs and ex-State Transit gas O500LEs also have loud engine fans which are apparently caused by a technical malfunction causing the fans to lock on and they cannot be turned off, would this happen to be what's occurring with the CDC K280UBs? The K310UBs don't have the fan issues and the L94UBs are the quietest of the lot. I've noticed the loud fans more often on the Volgren CR228L bodied vehicles than the CB60s, also the CR228Ls seem to be a lot bumpier from a passenger perspective. I know with STA they had little yellow route signs saying where school bus runs would go, but CDC only has those signs for regular timetabled trips - out of pure curiosity how would you know where to go when doing a school run? I have seen on regular timetabled trips the WayFarers display the sequence of stops but they don't seem to give actual directions.

The loud fans are very noticeable outside the vehicle, yes. I'm not a mechanic so I don't know what causes them, but generally they are loud when taking off and also when the engine brakes come on when braking. And yes, as a general member of the public taking the bus or as a pedestrian, I also notice that the buses that you mentioned (and mostly only just those) have loud fans. There are lefts and rights on the shift bats for the school runs. Since there are probably hundreds of different school runs, I doubt it'll be feasible to pin up a sign for every one of them.

What’s the flashing thing in the dash that has a camera looking symbol?
@atypicalbusdriver2 ай бұрын
That is the "Guardian" system, designed to catch and prevent drivers from falling asleep by tracking the driver's gaze and expressions. The flashing on the unit comes from the infrared lights (for night vision) which are only visible on camera, and not to the human eye.
