Stellantis needs to either sell off CDJR, or operate it as a separate entity completely. If they try to run it as a part of Stellantis, using Stellantis processes and methods, not only will they kill the CDJR brands, but Stellantis may cease to exist, unless some fool buys them out. All production needs to return to the plants that have successfully operated to complement the CDJR brands throughout the past 20 years; and parts supplies need to go back to the parts manufacturers who made QUALITY PARTS! I get the whole, "bring it back to America" sentiment; and I largely agree with that. Let's just not make the mistake of looking at Canadian manufacturing as adversaries, because anyone who knows the history of auto manufacturing in North America knows that Canada played a HUGE part in the successes of Ford, GM and the Chrysler group! The result being that it allowed expansion, prosperity and improved quality of the products. Mexico, on the other hand, is known for merely offering cheap labour, with lowered standards of quality. There have been exceptions, but that wasn't the rule.

@CJColvin The Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was iconic. It revived interest in GM muscle cars, despite not being true muscle cars. The only problem was that GM seemed bent on killing off the Camaro. They just couldn't seem to ride the coattails of the Firebird, at that time. I grew up in Oshawa, Ontario. Home of GMC Headquarters, as well as multiple assembly plants. The Acadia and Beaumont were well known as cars to mod.

Personally I think they’d be better off selling it back to American investors and find a very strong minded CEO that is only for American made, no more political theater in the business and dropping prices to what their vehicles are truly worth. The prices all the big three are charging are unaffordable, and we know it does not cost that much to produce them, also they need to come down very hard on dealers marking up the prices, no dealer add ones unless requested by the buyer.

I think that Elkins is still blinded by Tavares and his 'charms'. No qualified person would touch Stellantis with Carlos hanging around putting his destructive touch on things. There are lawsuits from investors working their way through the US courts, and if they go to trial Tavares and the Board will suffer a humiliating defeat, they know and back everything Tavares does to destroy share holder value. Perhaps spinning off the Chrysler division will insulate them from that.

The whole purpose of joining companies was to share platforms, and that isn't happening. The last sharing was under MB mostly. Hornet shares with Alfa. They have killed Lanca to Ypsilon. Fiat to the 500 ++ Van share with Ram, Citroen and Renault. Chrysler a once competitor to Lincoln, Pontic, Cadillac, etc luxury. Is now just a luxury van. They brought back Voyage name for base entry trim. They could even re- nose to make it different. Or offer low floor cargo hybrid van. RAM CV Ended with the Grand caravan. Why couldn't they take the grand caravan & install rear electric motor like the Hornet?

Recalling what was selling a lot of in 2019 at CDJR, beside Jeep it was Dodge Journey and Caravan. SUVs are big sellers in the automotive world and Chrysler and Dodge don’t have one. If a holding company buys CJDR it would fire the workforce and sell off assets. Based on current sales I’m thinking only Jeep and Ram would survive.

All the employees that were laid off means whatever company is left over won't have enough corporate memory left that knows how to make a stamped washer, let alone a car. You can see this with all the production issues on the Daytona and Hurricane RAMs. Yeah, the drawings and CAD models exist to make the V8s, but the tooling is gone, the engineers are gone that knew how to make them, the component vendors' contracts are gone, and the line workers who built them are gone. I don't see how splitting off the company can save the brand at all as ti will take decades to recover to the point where I'd trust the reliability of the car before I buy one.

Split off or not, it will take a lot of capital investment to save CDJR. Stellantis already stripped it of its parts... So why would you invest in a new CDJR? For now. Won't be the case in 2 to 3 years. Battery costs are plummeting and EVs will be less expensive than ICE cars in this time period. At that point, legacy auto makers are toast without bailouts. Even then, the Chinese and Tesla, ( maybe Ford ) will have very compelling EVs with fast charging batteries that last hundreds of thousands of miles for less money that ICE cars I love a V8 rumble as much as any 67 year old guy but the writing is on the wall, EVs will disrupt ICE cars by 2030 just like Smartphones disrupted Nokia in 2010. Tarrifs! They'll save legacy auto makers. Nope. Eventually the better priced and better technology will stomp them. Economics always win. Make a better mousetrap and peeps will flock to it leaving the old guard in the dust.

People think EVs are cheap to operate. That may be true at the moment but as more are sold and more electricity is needed that cost will drastically change. The power companies will then be able to charge whatever they want and say it's to build out all the grid that is needed to support it. Then even if you don't own an EV you'll be paying for them with your home utility bill.
