The Weaves, it is very difficult to trust UVI after what they did to the Mach Five customers. There are other modular soft synths available, that don't come laced with the mistrust engendered by UVI. They are also hardcore into copy protection, so expect that if you use their soft you will at some point not be able to use it, because they don't believe you are a legitimate user. Better to move along...

@@avationmusic Falcon is amazing, the main problem with it is UVI, who totally hosed the Mach Five customers. If they screwed over their customer base in the past can you really expect them not to do it again in the future? That and their heinous copy protection doesn't help with the confidence level.

@@avationmusicI have no opinions on UVI as a company (especially as now Image Line owns them, and I do generally trust image line), but I think you’ve got to have a think about what you want falcon for: its workflow is extremely tedious, so if you want quick sound design, falcon isn’t the way to go. On the other hand, it’s got a little bit of everything in one synth, but it’s not modular in the way something like Zebra is. Falcon is the second plugin I ever bought, and it’s probably one of my least used for synthesis and sampling tbh

@@avationmusic depends on your needs, it is the most flexible tool but it isn’t the fastest one and has a steep learning curve. Personally I use it only for when I have a specific need which I can’t reach with simpler things, or certain leathering / mapping / modulation/ midi mapping needs. Match five was licensed to MOTU and their contract ran out, therefore uvi just didn’t renew it afterwards to keep software in the house. I’ve bought falcon years ago (v1) and never had to pay for any update

2:58 - I do this for experimentation, and to see if it improves the piece or gives a different vibe. There are tracks that I've improvised, and I could never really recreate it quite the same. So I like to mess around with the original recording and see what I can do with it. I've never had anyone complain about this. But I also like to create completely new music.

Emvoice actually came out before the AI boom. I bought it during a Christmas sale in 2021. I wish I didn’t because I found, what I think is the better alternative, Synthesizer V Studio by Dreamtonics (A Japanese company, the voice can sing in multiple languages ) later on. The voices sound much more realistic. Fiver is a great option but if you want to use the same voice on multiple projects it can become expensive. Once you pay for the voice it is yours. Unlike the new AI services, no subscriptions. This technology isn’t replacing singers for me but if I have an idea for vocals and I don’t want to record my substandard voice I can use Synthesizer V to flesh that out. It is just another option really.
