Each skip costs $0.25 more than the last. Cost to skip everything averages to $140.25. If you wait for all the bomb-ombs then it drops to $75. Since no individual payment is over $8.25 in this case, and you dont get a refund for giving up part way, you stand a decent chance to yank a full price game from each player if they ever start paying.

You forgot one important detail, the human race can work together to overcome anything. There's no reason this should be a task for only one person. 1779603000000 years for one person to do it, but get 6 billion people to work on it and it's just about 300 years for the 90% chance. Well that would be working 24/7 and that's a bit rough, but for something as important as this I feel 12 hour days would be doable. So 600 years, 6 billion people, 12 hours a day and you got 90% chance. Not a bad price to pay for the eight wonder

Ceave, this can be made much worse. The biggest problem with your design is that it is basically impossible to upload because of the randomness. A much better design would be to create a contraption that uses some kind of encryption that is (relatively) simple to implement, such as a Treyfer cipher (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treyfer ). This contraption can then be used to force the player to find the right encryption key (with a chance of one in 18 quintillion). Since the creator knows the encryption key, he/she could easily upload the level on their first try while everybody else would need an average of 9 quintillion attempts, making it the first uploaded Super Mario Maker level to never be beaten. Even if somebody were to download the level and analyze it in the editor, they still would not be able to complete the level as it would be cryptographically secure.

Pianoman if I understand the referenced cypher correctly, I'm not sure looking in the editor would help much. It's not a series of paths with only one leading to the end, it's more a math problem, with each output being one input to the next of the 32 problems, with you choosing the other. I'm not sure how you would program something like this into Mario Maker though. I suppose you could work out the final needed value from the editor and do some significant number crunching, but still, it wouldn't show you the needed path.

While such a level would be the most boring level to play through and beat, the problem is that nobody would play it for anywhere near that time. And if nobody plays it for more than a few minutes the aspect (that is being the time it takes doing not much of anything) is lost. It seem to me for a level to be the worse you have to trick the player into thinking it can be beaten within a reasonable amount of time and that it is worth it. Basically, the level has to start off promising enough. This gets the player invested in the level. It is then once they are invested in the level that you can add in the elements that will turn it into a terrible experience, maybe a troll set-up of some sort that looks doable, but after a while the player will come to realize they have been trolled. And it might also be worth setting it up so they think they are closer to the end than they are. Anyway, that might not be the worse level, but I think it is at least the right direction.

Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the struggles and madness in this world today, God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die" - if we break one in thought/word/deed it's as if we're guilty of all of them. Quite simply, living by the law (which is doing everything perfectly) is impossible for sinful humans . The law shows us that 1. We will die in Hell if we fail to follow it and 2. We cannot save ourselves BUT, 3. God's perfect, immovable law points us to Christ, who followed and fulfilled the law in thought, word and deed perfectly in our place. He did what we couldn't and did it on our behalf. He was then sentenced to death on a cross, and took our personal punishment for our sin, paying our penalty (like paying our fine) completely FOR us, and has given us freedom. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. He will help us through the struggle, the stress, and anything we experience in the world. It's about letting Christ in to guide and teach you and obeying Him through His power (not ourselves, we need Him to help us as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction). He is our substitute in His life, death and resurrection. He essentially rewrote history in our place so that, if you believe in Him, it will be as if you had never sinned if you accept Christ's death as our own in our place. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. Hes giving EVERYONE a chance, He wants everyone to take the free gift of salvation from Hell. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through His power and abiding (staying) with Him. So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to follow His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and let Him lead in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the ultimate victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will do what we can't. Give us The Holy Spirit who will guide us in the right way. Christ says in John 16:33: I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] - (AMPLIFIED version) NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER. Regardless of what you've done or what you're going through you CAN make it through Jesus. Xxx

I don't see what could be "fun" about having hammers constantly being thrown at your face with no way out and nothing else to do, especially if you have the stress of having to repeat the whole stage. I see what you are trying to get at here, but I gurantee that only an autistic 4 year old would find any part of that without the star "Fun".
@jaromtoy71286 жыл бұрын
I think the main reason an autistic 4 year old thinks it's "fun" is because he has no idea what is going on; you can give something boring and useless like a game where all you do is swipe up and it meows at you, and the toddlers will think that it is "fun" because it's cool and they can control it. "The autistic 4 year old" is 4 years old; and probably has no idea what is going on, and will probably not remember the level when he grows up. At the same time, he is autistic, and probably won't grow up; so yes, you've beaten me, I guess dodging hammers is fun to a toddler that has no idea what is going on. But that still doesn't account for the 8 years and up who actually know what is going on, and objectively still believe that there is nothing fun about waiting for infinity to play a 3 second game of dodge the hammers. You can have fun by doing chores, even if you are bored out of your mind, because some part of you enjoys it in some way. That's just who we are and what we do; so if you take it as anything you do is fun, then what's the point of having a word such as bored? The definition of fun is not finding entertainment; it's actively enjoying what is going on. I definitely don't think I would have fun at a party, because I'm an introvert, even if there are snacks. I can enjoy snacks, but I still won't objectively be having fun. (I tried to explain it as best as I could) Literally no one except for babies would wait for a million years to play a tiny game for 3 seconds, because children don't understand as well as we do how things work. (Sorry for the essay, I just wanted to wrap this up, because this is getting kind of stupid)
@jaromtoy71286 жыл бұрын
So simply put it, we should just deem it impossible to make a boring level, since apparently you can describe "fun" as staring at paint dry, since there is definitely someone who enjoys not being able to think of anything but watching paint dry for hours on end. This is what I'm seeing from what you are saying to me, because there will always be SOMEthing "fun" about every situation we can put in a level; because going through a pipe could be fun, and so could standing still watching the timer tick down to zero. What I was trying to get at is simply the fact that yes, you COULD have fun going through a pipe, but I don't necessarily think that going through pipes for 5 hours is fun. Of course, going through an individual pipe is fun, but definitely not a million. To wrap this up (Before I write another essay gosh darnit stupid fingers) there will always be something that someone will think of as fun in a level, making it impossible to be boring. At the same time, the amount of fun that any person will have is not enough to actually make them fell not bored. I can't think of a single person who can sit there for 5 hours going through pipes and not call the level "boring;" I don't see how anyone can call that level "fun", because I'm thinking of things on the big picture, and the whole level itself is boring, but the first few pipes may be fun.
@PapayaJordane6 жыл бұрын
Why didn't you put the bomb counter after the hammer bros. rng? That would have made it take longer than the universe has been around. Edit: Just realized that wouldn't work because items only can fall out of a Note Block once per level. But you could make a contraption like this: The entity limit is almost reached off-screen. Have a Muncher blocking the way and a Hammer Bro with a Note Blocks on either side. If the Hammer Bro goes right, it gets stuck. If the Hammer Bro goes left, a Bill Launcher on a track kills the Hammer Bro. The Hammer Bro's death would lower the number of entities to below the Entity limit and allow a shell to fly out of the Bill Launcher and hit a POW block, which would kill the Muncher blocking the way. Have several contraptions like that lining both the main and sub worlds (off screen from each other so two munchers don't get killed at the same time), followed by several Bomb counters. For additional RNG garbage, turn the Bomb counter into one of these Hammer Bro RNG stations, but it drops a lit bomb instead. The bullet blaster would have to fall or something so it didn't fire more than one bomb.

That's only a fraction of how bad it could be. For instance, one could have the level laugh at you mercilessly if any of the hammer note blocks are hit, which would annoy the player after every failure, or perhaps you're forced by one-way pipes or other means to enter every other stacked pipe in a different direction so they can't abuse the system by putting a rubber band on the C-stick. Furthermore, the amount of RNG-based elements can be added and improved upon. So hear me out: You could use the counter mechanism described in the video along with the Hammer Bro run (and a Star spawner) to make them run it multiple times. Alternatively, random choice RNG is extra soul-crushing since it fills you with the feelings of second-guessing, choking and regret. But how do we reliably do this without being a dead giveaway for downloaders? I'll tell you how. Mario finds himself in an area that has an opening to the next part that opens at a random time (a contraption made, say, via a Bob-omb being let past by the random jumping of several Hammer Bros to blow up the wall) with the next area containing a whole bunch of winged ? Blocks along a really wide vertical piece of track; over the time it took to get there, they have been constantly shuffling. One holds a key; all of the others have P-Switches, which would pop up and hit Thwomps (suspended two blocks above the length of the track by semi-solids or bridges), making the brick floor below you disappear and sending you into a pit that's completely filled with laughing. What is wrong with me?

"1.8 trillion years" ...........aaaaaand that's not even factoring in the fact that this "odds" calculation assumes a true random number generator... and pretty much no video game actually expects a player to depend on true randomness or otherwise apply a reverse gambler fallacy. Each "random" motion of a hammer bro is mathematically bound to the next by way of whatever algorithm is being used by the RNG, and thus what we actually need to beat the level is a "run" of numbers the algorithm can generate that leads to each consecutive bro to move the same direction. For all we know, such a run may not even exist! edit: wow, 300+ likes? Thanks everyone!

@Keldor3146 жыл бұрын
A delightful consequence of this is that, assuming the RNG is capable of generating a sequence of 50 "successes", we can, with careful manipulation of the RNG, potentially shortcut to the desired pattern so that we can upload the stage. This gives the beautiful prospect of designing a level that is only beatable if the player starts playing on a specific millisecond of a specific year and then plays perfectly. The uploader, of course, has convenient access to whatever tool-assisted setup is needed to produce the one perfect run. Bonus points if you can find and require a sequence in the RNG that isn't normally reachable though whatever means the program usually uses to generate seeds. This can happen in RNGs with larger states because the initial seed has to be amplified out of e.g. the system clock and exact controller thumbstick positions, meaning the seed for the algorithm is bigger than the true seed coming from real non-deterministic sources. Since the validation server probably just sees the RNG state as it is at the beginning of the run, a clever person might use a tool to submit an RNG state unreachable by the actual game RNG seeding.
@annabethchase25696 жыл бұрын
@@Keldor314 This is assuming that the seed value of the RNG Generator of the game is dependent on the time, as a few common RNG generators are, but not all. And in the case that it is dependent on time, a method to achieve this in real life might be that after a certain point, the sequence might start from the beginning again. So if that happens, someone can ideally simulate this in real life, waiting for that perfect millisecond for some 2000 years. And all of this is assuming such a sequence of "50 successes" is possible.

Basically since no one would play it and you can't upload it, I wouldn't even consider it the worst. Using those rules you can make a box mario can't get out of. A good bad level is a level that incentivises you to complete the whole thing. In other words a possible number of rng at the start, followed by the 6 hour string with sound effects and other things to annoy the player. Followed by a bit of normal level that incentivises speedrunning and one rng at the end before the finnish flag. People would reset the game over and over and over again to go through six hours of bullshit in order to get through a place in the shortest amount of time and have risk it on one last rng at the end.
@outputcoupler78196 жыл бұрын
You can make this much worse. Much, much, much worse. The pipe trick is good, but randomizing the beatability of the level with the hammer bros is where the real magic is. You don't need each one to have a dedicated block to jump on, you can share and get a lot more of them in the stage. If you got 4 hammer bros to share the same muncher, then instead of 1/2^50 it's 1/2^80. Total time to complete (just scaling your numbers) would be about 1,900,000,000,000,000,000,000 years (1.9 sextillion). You can probably do better than that, even. If you found a way to make 99 hammer bros share one muncher, then it would take ~1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years (1 octillion). There are probably other ways to randomize, that give worse than 50% odds. Might even be a way to randomize repeatedly off the same hammer bros. Ultimately, you can probably get the win percentage of the level arbitrarily close to zero.
@zaphod776 жыл бұрын
if you have nearly impossible rng, you can't upload it until you actually pass the RNG trap. but there is a near impossible RNG trick that you can pass when uploading first try, but others cannot. the weird mushroom death trap. It took The Doctor over 2 billion years and a speech about "the first second of eternity" to literally punch his way out of about a 15 meter wall of something stronger than diamond while reliving a "Groundhog Day" horror sequence... which was less time spent suffering than if he were forced to try to complete this level by a factor of nearly 1000.

That’s my level at 1:42! “May the Light be Your Guide.” 3373-0000-0160-B0BB. You didn’t have to run around the whole room searching. The clue is right there in the title.

He could use ceaves video on how to upload an impossible level, but make it this level so it is possible, just he used a glitch to clear it.

Before I watched this, I thought to myself "What makes an awful level? Wasting your time, certainly. Any level that goes right to the timer is terrible. RNG is awful too. TAS-only levels would be infuriating." Clearly these are universals. Leave it to an Austrian to quantify ennui.

Ceave you take 365.25 instead of just 365 but then just casually round away 13 trillion tries To calculate this without rounding is actually surprisingly simple If we want to know how many tries it takes at least to get a chance of at least 90% to win then we can say this (X = Amount of wins, k >= 1, n=?): 0.1 >= P(X=0) since X is binomially distributed, just replace it with the formula: 0.1 >= (n nCr 0) * p^0 * (1-p)^n which can be shortened to 0.1 >= (1-p)^n To get the number of tries we just use log, we know that p = 0.5^50: log(1-(0.5^50),0.1)
