Which Super Mario Maker 2 enemy is the most useless one? Which enemy adds the least to the game? Which enemy in Super Mario Maker 2 ist the worst one? At first glance this might sound like a trivial question, but as it turns out answering this question is surprisingly difficult! Nonetheless we will try to find an answer today. We will first put all Super Mario Maker 2 enemies in a tier list, that determines how useful they are in my opinion, and afterwards we are not only going to decide which enemy is the worst one, but also which enemy is the best one in Super Mario Maker 2!

Something to mention about Spike Tops: They are immune to fireballs, which gives them a niche use in spin jump courses. If you want to make a spin jump course that also has fire flowers in it, you can use Spike Tops on Munchers or tracks and not have to worry about players accidentally killing their platforms.

The savior of the fish bones and cheep cheeps is the night airship theme. They can be used as uniquely moving platforms and are even better with wings.

Also they act as great platforms that disintegrate from contact with solid objects. I created a level with rising poison and a an upward facing pipe that fires a dry fish. Because they break on contact, it means the frame to jump on one in that situation is very tight. (I have it a parachute to give the player more time to react. I'm thinking of remaking all my levels with their originally intended designs some day.)

I’d rate Hammer Bros higher, they make a good challenge when you need one... as long as you don’t use too many at once. So my rating would be 2.5/5 They’re a decent challenge to defeat, but a bit unreliable in any contraption other than a randomiser.

Sometimes, there are things worse than nothing. For Fish Bones I can think of niche use cases, like detecting water level, or dispensing an item inside a block via a question block (item inside the Fish Bones inside the question block), but hammer bros are just plain bad. smm1 made two huge mistakes with the fish bone -- making it replace dry bones underwater, and giving it the stupid nsmbu behavior in all styles. smm2 fixed the first one; it is finally possible to use dry bones underwater. as to whether we will ever have fish that move horizontally but are immune to fireballs... maybe smm3?

IMO hammer bros are the worst. Fish bones can be used for platforming and a lot of other uses. Cheep cheeps even though they're random are very popular for troll levels. You could argue that buzzy beetles when flying can hold on to Mario making them a parabeetle substitute but spinys can shoot spikes and can stay still by floating underwater so I think spinys still will have that fuzzy crown

I find hammer bros fun because they pose a slight conventional challenge, like a koopa on steroids. Fish Bones are actually interesting when they drop out of pipes like a dangerous cycle based challenge in levels. Cheep Cheeps are some of the worst in the game but they are the Goomba of underwater. You gotta have them. Plus, they’re used in trolls a lot. The WORSR in my opinion, the one that is almost never fun, is the Angry Sun. No cool setups , no hard gameplay to fight him, and hardly a way to defeat them. The Moon is slightly more interesting but once again extremely niche.

The worst enemy is... Fishbones! Why not hammer/sledge bros? I found a glitch for them! You start by placing a sledge bro, then put a celling that the Mario needs to crouch in and a key inside it. Hammer Bros. 'cause randomness shouldn't be used that way. Cheep Cheeps and Fish Bones are useless and boring, but that's better than annoying.

If placed wisely, the randomness of hammer bros _isn't_ used that way. They are meant to either be attacked from the side or below, or to be dodged entirely without any attempt to fight them. Play the official games and you will see that Nintendo is quite good at placing them in situations where jumping on them is _not_ the intended strategy. Even in the original super mario bros, which is notorious for hammer bro abuse, Nintendo only placed them on top of smashable bricks, where they could be attacked from below in relative safety, or late in the stage after two progressive powerups, where skilled players could fight them with fireballs from a safe distance.

there are ways of dealing with hammer bros where rng can't screw you over (close range + short hop after a hammer throw, running under them after they jump, shell throw, ramming they with a carried enemy, ect.) as long as they aren't spammed or placed in scenarios where you can't react properly. spam gives them a bad reputation and experience with deaths to them builds up salt. adapting to randomness is a valid challenge and if it wasn't then good games and devs wouldn't use rng. just my 2 cents

Not many people know this but hammer bros with wings lose most of their randomness. They throw a single hammer, do a small hop to the left or right, do that two more times, and then repeat the whole process. They become much easier to beat.

I agree to disagree. I like them both, but i think the list its more like "Usefull" tier list for creative makers. Hammer bros alone its a challenging enemy,but for creative ways , its just an enemy with randome atacks. In other ways Fish bones seems useless at first sight, but it can be used in creative ways even out of the water. If you parachute it, it become a slowly jump platform with more surface with more apreciated hitbox than a goomba, it can interact with some gadgets hitting them in below , and make an weird obstacule if you put them in pipes. In the other hand hammer bros are always hammer bros, a good tier enemy but his lack interaction with the enviroment, make them hard to create new obstacules or puzzles.
