---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In former videos, we have studied some different ways of doing foamed channels by using 'blind stitches/inside hidden stitches'.
This video shows an application of this learning to furniture and automotive upholstery.
Furthermore, these stitches are very strong because the sewing was done twice, one on top and the other on the reverse side, attaching the vinyl top layer to the manta/muslin fabric lower layer, having the foam as a filling in the central part between them.
In next video, we will show more figures that can be done by using this method.
I hope you find it useful!
Cesar

Nice work! Thanks for posting! I always wondered how the diamond patterns were done. I’m sure there are more ways to do this however this one is straight forward and easer to understand. Very good camera person you have, they know exactly when to zoom in and show exactly what where to concentrate!

I love how your videos are among the most informative without a word being said. Keep up this format! Your videos helped inspire me to purchase an old Singer 31-15 machine. It might not be the ideal for upholstery, but it gets the job done for my own projects.

There are some people only dedicated to disqualify the work of someone without providing a minimum. I think the right thing would be to give an opinion about what seems wrong or demonstrate with facts instead of 'clicking' in a nonsense way. I want to note all of these videos are free and aimed to people really interested in learning something about upholstery.

Incredible workmanship Chechaflo,Thank you for sharing! May I share a gift with you?One of my crafts is building fishing rods, and the lathe used is spun with a 1/3 HP sewing machine motor.It is difficult to control at the low end (even at the slowest pulley settings), just as yours is, so a friend of mine got together with me and we wired a commercial dimmer switch to a receptacle.All of this is inside of a Quad Box (4 plug metal box) like you see on the end of extension cords at work sites.Turn down the dimmer 1/2 way or so, and when you push your motor control pedal the sewing machine won't take off like Dale Earnhrdt Jr. leaving the line. One thing to keep in mind is not to run the dimmer really low so the motor bogs down as this can burn up the armature, but you can get pretty low.Feel the motor occasionally to check and see of it is getting warmer than usual, and this will give you a clue to be careful. Hope this trick helps you in your work, and thanks again.

Best part for me is at 22:18 where the lines for the secondary (sideways) stitches are laid out; now I understand how this works. Extremely difficult to find an upholsterer with this kind of talent or even knows what a blind stitch is. I've seen some very high-end show cars with really disappointing interiors, stitching on pleats staring you right in the face because the client or the upholsterer was ignorant of the proper method or didn't think the end result was worth the extra effort. Many upholsterer's (even high-priced talent) stop with top-stitching, unless that's actually the look you're going for that's a job only half-way done.
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 8 жыл бұрын
I really appreciate your kind remarks! In fact, 'blind stitches' on car seats are synonym of 'elegance', besides the foamed channels are more durable than top stitching channels. I think it is only a point of view, but I think so.

I just found your videos and find them very interesting! I've been messing with upholstery for 13 years but learned from someone who was self taught and I'm missing out on a lot of useful tips! do you have a video on why your using that foot or how you modified it?
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 8 жыл бұрын
+Chris Rollins I bought the foot this way...it is a 'zipper foot' ...it helps to have a wider look of what I'm sewing. BTW, most of the old upholsterers have learnt from the 'trial and error master'...I am also a self taught upholsterer.

This is my car seat pattern..had it professionally done in 1982 its time for some new naugahyde 😂.. after 40 years .. haven't found a match.. but some Red Vinal is close.. enough.. It's a 9 passenger mostly just the front seat .I don't want to change it all again.. Some of the original seat foam has turned to dust. Guess I'll need to do the foam for center seat bottoms 🙁

I am mindful that to those who don't know about upholstery, they will take what is shown as gospel. To those who are professional in upholstery, they may question the approaches. But there are many ways to do the same thing. Sometimes 'junior' professionals don't know what they don't know yet so when they see novel techniques that aren't 'in the book' they get confused or even threatened.

@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 7 жыл бұрын
I am using this kind of 'small cut foot' (binding foot) because it helps to have a better sight at sewing procedure. It also helps the students to better watching of what I am doing. I can do the same with a standard foot. www.ebay.com/itm/PFAFF-INDUSTRIAL-WALKING-FOOT-MACHINE-BINDER-FOOT-SET-fits-PFAFF-1245-/292096934898

Thank you very much for your reply. After watching your videos I am tempted, probably like many others, to try some simple panels myself, but the different types of walking foot are outside my experience. Knowing what works would assist purchase of a cheap industrial machine, so thank you again for your reply.

How do you get your clutch motor to sew like a servo one? Very good info on sewing tips, Dr. Julian Fields, MD retired doing this as a hobby with a consew machine.
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 8 ай бұрын
I have resorted to two tips. Not 100% but useful anyhow: A smaller pulley on the motor and elongation of motor lever that connects the machine pedal. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2HafKKXipqonc0 kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3XMqpmcmr2fm8k Definitely, a servo motor is the best way to keep control of the speed. BTW, it is not expensive.

+prasiprassi There is a 'small fender' that goes attached to the presser foot...my machine has it, but I take it off to let the students have a wider view of what I'm doing.
