@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 11 ай бұрын
A 130=21 needle size will be useful to do upholstery. The standard polyester thread is 92 size useful to sew/join pieces together and for top stitches. You could use bonded polyester thread 138 size for decorative stitches on top vies. Before doing any sewing check out tensions top and lower. 3 to 4 mm to close pieces together(blind stitches) The top stitches could be longer 4 to 5 mm long.

Hi Sir,ye I did my first fix to my 132k6`I plucked to up the courage to crack on and test the machine,Well after stripping the bobbing down I noticed several layers of paper placed at the back of the bobbin in between that and the case,and the bobbin case tension metal at the back was not in its recess properly,But i figure the paper was in there to put pressure on the bobbin real to stop the bobbin thread coming out with ease,So I checked the tension spring on the bobbin case that presses on the thread and the screw could not be tightened any more to place tension on the thread, So I removed the paper and removed the tension spring and bent it slightly over a wooden spoon handle`Put all back together with out the paper and it stitches great. I was only confident enough to have a crack at it due to watching your vid,Thank you

I am finally getting a decent antique machine to sew on for this. It is a 1880's singer improved manufacture. It has a 19 1/2" work area and parts can be made easy. It is a rotary oscilating shuttle hook system like yours a bit, so these tutorials will help even more. The industrial I am getting also goes with all my other 6 106 year old plus sewing machines. Is $200 cdn or $175 U.S. good for an industrial machine? I hope so. Doesn't look nice right now, but it will in a bit and it works.

I just got a '40s era 241-12... runs like a top BUT the upper thread is locking up on the bobbin assembly on the first stitch, when I try to pick up the bottom thread. The tensions both feel good and I have tried adjusting them. The results remain the same. HELP... PLEASE! I can't afford to not be able to use this machine. I have no way to take it all the way across Houston to a service Co that could help.

This looks like the Spanish Alfa clone of the Singer from the castings but the method is the same . If using all 3 holes in the guide like this then ensure that all are snag free . Generally only one is used which with age can develop a track which then must be honed smooth if you use the other 2 . I have several Singers including one of the last of the line that came from a line in the Glasgow plant before it was bombed in WW2 . That one was used for sewing webbing and packs ,etc at MECO .

Gracias.
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo Жыл бұрын

I have searched all over the web but most of the videos are for handheld machines and I have a Singer 95K40 with a wheel like your machine you used for this video. The "bobbins" used are metal without hole but there is a small notch in the tube where I have to insert my bobbin to do it but I don't know how to do it. Many thanks in advance.

I never would have thought to spiral the thread on that 2nd part! I would have gone in-out. Would've thought that a spiral would create too much tension. I see it left foot marks on your vinyl. Any fix for that?
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 2 жыл бұрын
The passing of thread through different gaps helps to get a better tension of the tread. It also avoids the fraying of it. Marks on the vinyl could be avoided by using a teflon presser foot. singerco.com.au/product/teflon-foot-7mm/

I really don't know the differences...I only know, both are industrial sewing machines for medium to heavy duty jobs. Watch this chart: ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/model-list/classes-200-299.html A 'skipped stitch' could be caused: If the machine is out of time...the 'bobbin hook point' could be lightly delayed. A too thin needle for thick materials. If the 'hook point' is not close enough to the needle scarf. If the 'needle bar' is little upwards and does not penetrate enough to let the tread make the 'loop' which would be caught by the 'hook point'. Thanks for watching my videos!

at 14 minutes in the video, why does the white thread (on the underside of the cloth) sew at a slight angle?
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 3 жыл бұрын
It is because of the needle point how makes the cut. This needle is wedge point. If the needle is positioned in more angle it will cut more angled.

HI Sir I know this may be basic to you but to a newbie at using a sewing machine this is vital and most appreciated knowledge you are showing your viewers so thank you, But I noticed this time you are placing the thread through the three holes this time instead of the two holes` you showed earlier in one of your passed video`s,is this because you are using thinner cotton this time and if so how does this make a difference to when using thicker thread?.
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 8 жыл бұрын
+wow dude You are welcome, again! ...maybe, I missed one hole in former video, but the correct way is pass thread through the complete holes...it avoids fraying...although, one hole does not make a difference(lol) same procedure is applied for thin or thick threads.

How do I lengthen the stitch in a Singer 251-4?
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 5 жыл бұрын
It would be necessary to alter the eccentric mechanism that makes the feed dog's back and forth movement to determine the stitch length. Perhaps, it would be more expensive than the machine itself.

Cesar, good evening and thanks for all your work!! I´ve got a Singer 211u566a machine, and at the moment I´m having a hard time finding the right combination of needle and thread to sew medium (1,2mm) to heavier (2mm) leather. I´ve tried several combinations of 140 needles, 140 leather needles and 20, 30, 36 and 40 threads with no luck yet. What can you recommend? Thanks in advance for your time and keep posting amazing videos!
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 4 жыл бұрын
Trying to understand what specifically are the issues? Thin needles 110, 120 for thin leathers. Thicker needles 130,140 consider as standard for medium to heavy materials. 160, 180 are also considered for heavier leathers. It is important to take into account the needle plate hole which goes according to needle size. Hopefully these videos could give some ideas: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIPEoIpvoLGSpbM kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKXJo5Z6iJqKgLM

@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 9 жыл бұрын
