Hi Cechaflo. I know nothing about fixing my domestic sewing machine yet but was able to download the maintenance manual. It's great because it tells how to adjust the machine while you show how the parts move in unison. I really appreciated your video on how to fix the Feed Dogs which is my problem. You really have some great angles! I was able to see just how far above the needle plate the dog is supposed to move when in its highest position. You gave me a fighting chance while the manual only describes the feed dog height in mm. Thanks so much!

It puzzled me when you threaded that first upper thread guide. I checked the manual. It should go from right to left through the upper hole, left to right through the centre hole and right to left through the lower hole. Hope that helps. I will be working on one of these tomorrow and appreciate the preview that you have provided.

@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 4 жыл бұрын

@@Cechaflo Thank you. I just got a 241. Trying to learn. It looks like yours doesn't have the gasket? Am I seeing that right? On mine the cork is very dry and brittle. Was thinking I had to replace it. Maybe not? (it's > $40!)
@Cechaflo

@@paisley436 I do not remember if it had it. I do not have this machine anymore. I sold it. Regularly, these machines are used in clothing manufacturing and shoemaking. It was used in the past to do upholstery with some limitations though. I used to work with this kind of machines many years ago. Double and triple transport machines came to replace them. A roller foot is adapted to hadle it much better. I have a related video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJCsipmmbN91nKs

Absolutely fantastic...Have the exact Singer machine, and while I appreciate your expertise is upholstery, could you help me understand the oil pump operation? I'm not getting any oil in the window, and I would just like to see oil coming from the hole in that copper tube from a perfectly running 241-12! Again, thanks for your video's...you do amazing work... Absolutely, best regards....
@jnmarin6603
@jnmarin6603 5 жыл бұрын
did you figure the oil pump problem? I read in an online blog that the machine has to run at high speed atleast for a shirt time to get the oil flowing to all parts.
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 5 жыл бұрын
@@jnmarin6603 The oil can also flow/run at low speeds lubricating the pieces. The small 'turbine' below' creates a vacuum while sucking up the oil from the 'oil tray'. Of course, these machines are 'high speed' and lubrication will be optimal alleviating friction of the pieces.

Why won’t my needles stay in my machine have tried different needles but keep falling out it’s a brother industrial electrical. Like you’re videos
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 2 жыл бұрын
One of the reasons the needles fall out is the little pressing bolt has its thread worn off or stripped. Check out the little bolt. If so, get a new one same size to replace it. On the contrary, the nut could be stripped. In this case you would have to buy in a hardware store a tap to make new thread. The new little bolt and corresponding tap would be a bit thicker.

@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 9 жыл бұрын

Hi sir`why have you feed the thread in the first hole then deliberately mist the middle hole then you threaded the third hole when first threading the machine, Would this be to ease the tension on the thread from the spool or due to a nother reason
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 8 жыл бұрын
+wow dude the machine was threaded beforehand...at the beginning I took off the 'lateral fender' to have a better view and show how the eccentrical mechanisms work and how 'thread lifter' also works up and down pulling the upper thread...if I missed one hole I did not do it to ease tension, nor for another reason.

Hi..thanks for your great tutorial video. May i know what size of needle and thread did you use to sew the upholstery? My Singer 248 model only allowed me to use maximum needle of size 90/18 with combination thread for sewing jeans. I always have top thread break.
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 9 жыл бұрын
+fairiehan For light materials I use a 120=19 and 140=22 for heavier materials. Maybe, you have to change the needle plate for one with a bigger 'little hole'.... or widen it with a drill bit...a 19 needle would do much better with a 92/138 thread...try out...adjust tensions up(on the disks) and down(on the bobbin). kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHuof4uCh82Lh6s Thanks for following us on our channel!

@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 4 жыл бұрын
@@reymartbaradillo9057 It seems the machine is sewing but badly. 1. This issue would happen when the hook point is catching the upper thread loop late and for more you tighten the upper tension nut it will not have enough tension to pull the needle upwards. The lower tension gains and pulls the thread downwards causing the mess. 2. If the machine is correctly on time it would be that upper tension assembly is not working good and need to be replaced for a new one. Sometimes the nut is not tghtening the plates enough.

@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 4 жыл бұрын
It should move if some force is applied! While one person is pressing the button on top you could be trying to move the big wheel back and forth until it is released. Sometimes, these big balance wheels get stuck. If necessary carefully use a pair of pressure pliers to move the big wheel. Do not forget to oil the axis of this wheel.

Hey master Cechaflo, My machine keeps jamming thread on that bar that keeps the shuttle steady. Any input how to solve this? Is my thread to thick?
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 6 жыл бұрын
I suppose you are referring to min 15:00 of the video. The upper thread does a complete turn around and passes through the 'gap' between the 'little protuberance' and shuttle. If this 'gap' is too close it causes to jam thread between. The shuttle can be regulated (there are two/three bolts that keep it fastened to a central shaft. Loosen the bolts and move it backwards a little bit. It also depends on thread thickness. If you were sewing with a thin thread there was no problem to pass through the gap.

@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 6 жыл бұрын

@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 6 жыл бұрын
