This snowstorm brought HURRICANE SPEED winds!! The strongest winds we've ever experienced here at our cabin on Svalbard. In this video we spent a few days stuck in our cabin, and we also head into Longyearbyen to see how the village deals with the aftermath of a big snowstorm. Random question! How do you keep your vehicle batteries from not dying in the cold when parked? I live in alberta Canada, we get -40 weather and have to plug ours in to charge the block heater.

Super niche question, but I'm curious about what ice/snow removal products are allowed to be used in Svalbard? In Minnesota people use a ton of salt and grit for management but I'd imagine the ecosystem of Svalbard is protective against it's environment and ecosystem?

I love the shelves. I'd want real plants. Can you have real plants with a plant light. Also did you get a package from MD,USA a bit over a month ago. It had some Blue Buffalo dog snacks in it for Grimm . I use to walk dogs and they loved Blue buffalo Dog snacks. Plus there were a bunch of other American snacks .

Awww, I love watching Grim because he reminds me so much of my Walter. He was an American Eskimo mix and had a similar personality. Lots of the same quirky mannerisms! I adopted him when he was 7, and like with Grim, a lot of people were surprised when I told them his age too. Acted like a young pupper till the very end ♥️

Svalbard is a beautiful place..snow or not! It is beautiful here in Michigan, too, when the snow arrives, but I don't care to drive in it some days. I feel it is the other people on the road that drive like crazies when the roads are snow packed and icy, which gives a lot of other drivers anxiety. Grim is such a cutie.. For seven years old, he appears to do great and enjoys dog life. Enjoy your snow!

My favorite time is after a storm. Today a year ago, we were digging out. This year ice arrived. Rare to see hurricane force winds with rain at a warm -2c. You really need a wide barn shovel. It cuts your clean out in half and can handle the heavy icy snow on decking. Grimm is so much like ours it's funny, even down to the rescued toy. Ours unfortunately sneak into the home to be saved until the next outing to be buried again. Our dump will be tonight. Stay warm and safe.

I too love a good snowstorm and staying inside by the fireplace!! Grim was like, "Oh no, not me. I'm not going out there in that crazy storm." He's so adorable in every sense of the word! When the storm finally subsided, he was smiling from ear to ear.😘 Approximately how many children attend school in town?🍎 And do you have different school buildings dividing the elementary, middle and high schoolers, or is there just a single school building with different classrooms? It's easy to see the bond you and grim have for each other. I understand grim not liking the sound of the storm but being fine when outside. I had a German Shepard like that. She only barked in the house. When I let her outside, she stopped barking and apparently just did her job of protecting by walking our property.

Love seeing what an Arctic snowstorm looks like with no trees to block the wind! Enjoy the warm temperatures - the polar air has slipped over Central Canada right now. -36 C at 10pm in Thompson, Manitoba. However, we have lots of trees to break any wind and already almost 10 hours of daylight. Hoping the clouds stay away so we can see Aurora tonight.

I love a good blizzard! Here in Boston we get "Nor'Easters" which are similar snow hurricanes and I love them! My dog gets freaked out by the whistling sound of the wind too but loves playing outside in the storm and aftermath. Thanks for another great video!!!
